Eiffel Tower
In my most recent blog I talked about Peter Max. Max is one of my favorite artists of all time. I enjoy his paintings because he uses bold, vibrant colors and I love seeing all the different colors of paint and brushstrokes! For our art class project I decided to paint a picture based on Peter Max’s Statue of Liberty paintings. Peter Max used a basic poster of the statue and then paints over them. Each piece of artwork is different and unique. I thought about the piece that I wanted to do. I thought about doing a painting of a rollercoaster because I am from Sandusky, which is famous for Cedar Point, but I didn’t like that idea because not everyone would know Cedar Point. I then thought about what the Statue of Liberty represented. When people see the Statue of Liberty they immediately think of New York, America, and freedom. The Statue of Liberty is one of America’s most recognized pieces of artwork. I then thought about places I have traveled to and their countries symbolic artworks. I immediately thought of the Eiffel Tower. The tower is known around the world and is located in Paris, France.
I really enjoyed working on this project. I went to the store and got all the supplies needed; paint, poster paper, and brushes. I then painted the base of me poster many coats of white. After that dried I worked on the background. I decided that I wanted to use warm colors for the background and cooler colors for the tower itself. I painted many different layers of red, yellow, and orange. I wanted to do warm colors in the background and cool colors on the object itself to make the tower pop and stand out more. After everything dried I added black to define the tower lines. This showed the detail throughout the tower!
