Not so happily ever after

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess who finally met her Prince Charming.  They both were madly in love with things going smoothly until 72 days later when the princess announced their divorce.

Business woman and model Kim Kardashian, filed for divorce on October 21, 2011 due to irreconcilable differences from husband Kris Humphries of the New Jersey Nets.

“I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce,” Humphries said in an interview with Access Hollywood.

Unlike Humphries, BGSU students said they are not surprised with the announcement. Several students said they knew they would eventually file for divorce.

“I knew they were going to divorce sooner or later with how much they fought and bickered, just didn’t expect it to be so soon,” Becky Deertz, 19, marketing major from Strongsville, Ohio said.

Vince Chiuchiarelli, 19, communication major from Medina, Ohio also said that he was not surprised with the divorce.

“I do not believe that their marriage was nothing more than a publicity stunt to help both celebrities reputation,” Chiuchiarelli said.

The wedding was aired on the E channel nationally back in August.

“I have been dreaming of my fantasy wedding since I was a little girl and it is finally here,” Kardashian said in an interview with Katie Couric.  However, she revealed on Twitter her hesitation to marry.

“I got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that when I probably should have ended my relationship, I didn’t know how to and didn’t want to disappoint a lot of people,” Kardashian said on her Twitter.

However several BGSU students without hesitation said they would agree to air their wedding on national television.

Jessica Thompson, 18, a freshman from Toledo, majoring in business had her own thoughts on airing her wedding.

“If I was already famous and in love with the kid at the time, why not air it for more money?” Thompson said.

Pre-medical major and Norwalk native Nate Griffin agrees.

“Of course I would air my wedding to become a little richer,” Griffin said.

However, Haley Sundvold, 21, of Perrysburg and broadcast major begs to differ.

“A wedding is supposed to be an important ceremony; television cameras would just make it like a television show,” Sundvold said.

Whether or not the marriage was a result of media pressures, Kardashian failed to live her happily ever after.

I really liked the story. I thought it throughly explained the whole situation. From what I saw, grammar and punctuation was correct. Good details and sources! EXCELLENT!!

It really is sad that this story has gotten so much publicity and that Kim Kardashian has gotten her name back into the spotlight from this. I mean she is going to be in the new Tyler Perry film and she walked away richer. With celebrities, I rarely see them staying together.

Good reflection on this popular story. I guess marriage was not for everyone, after all.
