Quieter camera for quieter video

NEC announced today that they’re infusing the Casio EX-ZR10 with new noise suppression technology that will help dampen the sounds created by motors and other mechanical bits that are used during optical zooming.

Here’s how it works. The camera records what the motors sound like during operation. Then it keeps it on record. So when you’re out shooting video the camera takes the sound of the motors and removes it from the file. Resulting in a much quieter video. The camera’s on-board microphone still picks up ambient noise, allowing the camera to operate more smoothly.
