In-Store Display

The product that I choose to create an in store display for is the Strayer Voight 1911. This is larger handgun that is often used in films. Films that featured the Strayer Voight 1911 include SALT,Wanted,

The reason that i choose to use the 1911 as my product is because it is a relatively expensive product that has easy recognition. The people who sell this gun unfortunately have used traditional gun advertising to sell the product. I think that if the consumer can actually fire the gun in the store they are much more likely to buy it. I also want to draw on the influence that films have on this product. People see the gun in the movies so they will want it. I was researching gun display advertising and realized there is not really that much out there to choose from. You either have the standard glass gun case or the stand up shotgun display. That is another reason I am creating a gun display.

This is some background info on the product.

Strayer-Voigt, Inc. (also known as SVI) is a manufacturer of M1911-styled modular pistols. The Strayer-Voigt system is called modular because the lower grip and trigger guard, which is made of a fiber reinforced plastic, is a separate component from the metal upper portion of the frame that comprises the dust cover and frame rails. They are the most famous for their Hybrid series of pistols. SVI markets its products under the brand name Infinity Firearms. The Infinity pistols are sometimes unofficially known by the combined name of Strayer-Voigt Infinity among some enthusiasts, a play on the SVI acronym.

The polymer frame was formerly a shared patent design between Strayer-Voigt and STI International Inc (the patents expired in 2006). It offers a modular design for 1911 lovers around the United States and world who need a great competition pistol. By making the lower half of the frame from thin polymer, the gun can make use of double-stack magazines without a significant increase in grip thickness. SVI and STI pistols generally hold approximately twice as many rounds of ammunition per magazine as traditional 1911s (ie, 14 rounds of .45ACP instead of 7 rounds). SVI Infinity pistols currently rank among the most popular – and most expensive – competition 1911 pistols made. Complete SVI handguns can easily run into the $4000+ range, depending on options. They are produced in a variety of calibers, including .38 Super, 9x23mm Winchester, .40 S&W, .45ACP, 10mm Auto, and .357 Sig. SVI Infinity pistols make exclusive use of Infinity Accuracy Enhanced pistol barrels. The barrels begin as stock Schuemann AET barrels, which make use of a variety of proprietary technology to make what is touted as the most accurate pistol barrel available. However, after fitting to a specific pistol, SVI coats the barrels with Titanium Nitride, which yields lower friction and a unique golden color. SVI also now uses slides with interchangeable breech faces, which makes caliber changes cheaper for customers wanting to shoot several different calibers in the same platform. SVI provides accuracy certificates with their pistols which feature the accuracy enhanced barrels that are less than 1.50″ groups at fifty yards, which is remarkable accuracy for a pistol.
