Final Project Proposal

Options 1 & 2 Focus
1. For my final project I am going to focus on a literacy I will need to possess for my teaching career, lesson plans, because lesson plans are something I will need to use every day for the rest of my teaching career.
2. This is a literacy because: It is a specialized form of literacy because it has certain terminology that only teachers would understand. It also incorporates both reading and writing skills.
3. Explain how you use/practice/demonstrate this literacy right now in your life right now (in other words, what role does the literacy in question one play in your life)?
Right now I am just starting to learn about how to create a lesson plan, so my literacy is just developing.
4. Explain how this literacy might be used by others in their personal lives. Explain how this literacy might be used by others in their professional lives.
A lesson plan is a step by step set of directions for the classroom, so all teachers would use one each day. A version of this for the everyday person might be a to-do list.
5. How do you see yourself using this literacy professionally? What need does this literacy meet that others cannot? In other words, what will this literacy do that others do not?
This literacy gives teachers a format to follow in order to make an informative plan they can follow each day in their classroom.
6. How do you plan to demonstrate your literacy?
I will show an example of a 5 class period lesson plan and then writie a reflection on this literacy and why it is important.
7. What questions do you have about this project?
Will I be doing enough for this project?
8. Create a chronological list of the steps you will need to take to complete this project. Then, set a time-line of when each step will be completed. This will be a tentative contract between you and me to assure you’re making progress on this project.
1.) Find the lesson plan- by Monday April 20th
2.) Create the reflection- rough draft by Wednesday April 22nd
3.) Final copy- Monday April 27th

I think that this is a great literacy to explore for you. This is a specialized literacy that you have and are working to develop! It sounds like you have a good idea of what to do and when to have it done. As for your question of “are you doing it” – from what you wrote it sounds like you’re doing exactly what is expected of you.
