The Frog Blog
August 2011
Hi. Hope your summer is going well. I’m looking forward to starting school in just a few weeks. Are you starting school ? It will be fun to meet new people and learn about so many new things.
It’s been so hot in Bowling Green over the last few weeks that I’ve been spending a lot of time inside, where it’s cooler, reading books. I’m currently reading Harold and the Purple Crayon, by Crockett Johnson. It’s a story about how far your imagination can take you and it’s a great book!
I’ve also been viewing some of my favorite shows on WBGU-TV. Experiencing the exciting adventures of the Wild Kratt’s, and looking forward to finding out how a basilisk lizard can walk on water in an upcoming episode. Watching SuperWhy and his friends meet Mother Goose, who helps Red find the right word for a new song. My friends and I have learned how much fun it is to travel watching Barney and Friends.
My garden is growing more and more each day. One of my favorite fruits, rhubarb, is multiplying madly! I’ve included a great recipe for Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp in Ruby’s Favorite Recipes. Baking with your family is a great way to spend time together and using what you grew in your own garden makes it even more special.
I’ll be participating in the 2011 Swanton Corn Fest Parade, in Swanton, Ohio on Saturday, August 20th at 10:30am. It would be great to see you there.
If you would like to purchase a Frog Squad shirt, they are now available through our Frog Squad Merchandise Site. I can’t miss a frog squad fan in those bright yellow shirts.
My friends at the station and I have been getting together to plan our 2nd annual members Fall Spooktacular. If you have any great fall craft ideas, games, or recipes we’d love to get ideas from you.
Time to get back to my reading my book.
Take care!

JUNE 2011
Hi. I’m Ruby the Red-Eyed Tree Frog. I’ve been the mascot for WBGU-TV for the last five years and thought it was time to create my own personal Frog Blog. Every month I’ll be posting some new craft ideas, games, and recipes that might be fun for you to try.
This month, I’ve included a recipe for my favorite Strawberry Cake. Every year I grow a huge garden, and my strawberry crop is now brimming with berries!
Throughout the year, I appear in a lot of local parades. Last month, I was in the Port Clinton Walleye Fest Parade. If your town has a parade or event coming up in your town and would like to see if I could participate, let me know by contacting my “talent agent” Heather at wbgufeedback@bgsu.edu. Post your suggestions or ideas to the Frog Blog. I’d love to hear from you.
June is such a great month. I love sipping lemonade while floating on a lily pad, reading a good book. I’m currently reading The Great Monster Hunt, by Norma Lana. I also enjoy inviting my friends to my house to eat popcorn and watch our favorite episode of one of my favorite PBS programs, Dinosaur Train. On June 4th, I’ll be meeting a lot of people at the 10th annual Kid’s Extravaganza. My friend Cat in the Hat will be in town for a visit and it’s going to be a wonderful day!
I hope you have a safe and enjoyable Summer, and come back to the Frog Blog in July to see what I’m up to next.
Best wishes,
Ruby the Red-Eyed Tree Frog
