Everyone can Learn to Ride a Bicycle

Have you heard of BGSU’s new Orange Bike Program? Campus Sustainability has placed orange bikes all around campus for your riding pleasures. Need a quick way to to get to your class that is on the other side of campus? Ride an orange bike! For more information on how to be a part of this program, click the “Orange Bike Program” link.

This program goes with one of our new books Everyone can Learn to Ride a Bicycle by two- time Caldecott Medal winner Chris Raschka . This inspiring book is about a little girl learning to ride her brand new bike. She starts off with training wheels, but they don’t last long as she begins to balance on her own. Once the training wheels are off, the little girl has to find the courage to try and try again to ride the bike on her own until all her hard work plays off and she is finally riding. Written in second-person, the book really allows you to see yourself as the one riding the bike.  Raschka’s text is simple and effective for young readers to read.

If that is not enough to inspire you or a young one to learn how to ride a bike, check out this cute little video or in the encouraging song version.
