Reflection
I was very excited when it came to writing the treatment and script for this project. I had the vision in my head and I knew what I wanted to do. I chose the song “Smile” by Lily Allen. It is a break-up song, but like many of her songs I enjoyed her edgy attitude that she puts in it. It’s not a typical break-up song. With a week before we left before spring break, I knew I had to get on it and find my actresses, locations, and time for recording.
I ran into problems right away, no surprise there. All the actors I had in mind were busy with final projects, papers, and midterms. Luckily, I found a few friends from home who agreed to help me out. We found a nice day to make a trip to Fallen Timbers mall and captured the story of a girl moving on and getting over her ex-boyfriend with the help of her best friends.
I had previously planned on shooting the hole commercial on campus at school, steeling Sic Sic signs, and going to Starbucks, but I had to change all the locations. Although this did cause some dilemmas, it turned out to tell the same story and I got the project done.
