8/28 Reader Response

Things I learned include:

*A lot of them ended with stating what they believed in rather than starting of with coming right out and saying it.
* I noticed they all had stories that led usually led them to why they believed in those things.
* I saw that each sentence had its own important significance.
* In the essays, they used a ton of sensory description.

If I were to talk to someone about what I think the goals of the “This I Believe” essays, I would tell them that they are short essays that literally explain what they believe in. Its not just what they believe in though because It’s also their way of life, their morals, and just what they have come to understand and know. The “This I believe” essays are powerful in their individual ways because they explain 80 different people’s view of their lifestyle. The essays range from connecting with others, to god, to sports, to faith, and having fun with life. I believe this book is a great document to read and understand because it makes you think well-roundly, which in turn you can then to really think and decide in what the heart of what you believe in.

I learned from the SMG (ebook) that you can do a lot more with writing than just jotting down facts. Writing really helps you to remember why things are important because when your doing a research paper or anything, you have to be able to justify yourself to sound convincing. When writing a paper, you use more of your personal values as to how you think things should be and even listing your ideas.

I believe writing is important because It helps me to be able to understand things in a different way. I now realize that it also help you to be more aware of your personal values in life.

Writing is important because It gives you another way to express yourself rather than just verbally. Its important because you are able to use writing in many ways to communicate different ways whether its for a job, school, to a friend etc.
