Chapter 3 of Coming of Age in Second Life talks about ways the author conducted his research in Second Life. The author mentions how he conducts his research only in second life and not in the actual world. He feels that it is necessary to do it this way since Second Life is in its own a cultural experience and social environment. He discusses how real world (actual) events can be influenced or take place in second life like campaign rallies. Futhermore, the author gives an in depth detailed disctrition of how he conducted his research. He gathered data through means of surveys and focus groups that he made up in second life.
I found this chapter interesting in the fact that the virtual world has no indigenous beings. Everyone puts themselves there and makes certain parts of it their own.
