Dr. Andrew Pelletier, Associate Professor of Horn, will be visiting his Alma Mater, the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, September 12-14, 2013, where he will perform with Maine-ly British Brass (a 10-piece brass ensemble of Maine brass players) in a concert of music written for the legendary Philip Jones Brass Ensemble of London. While at USM, Dr. Pelletier will also present a masterclass and new music performance discussions, including music of BGSU DMA candidate C.R. Kasprzyk.

Prof. Pelletier in Virginia
Dr. Andrew Pelletier, Associate Professor of Horn, will be at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, September 8-10, 2013 to present a recital as part of the prestigious Diehn Recital Series and a masterclass with brass students. The recital, entitled “New Sounds for Horn”, features music of Paul Hindemith, Harold East, Charles Gounod, BGSU alumnus A.J. Stegall and current BGSU DMA candidate C.R. Kasprzyk.
CMA Faculty and Students Participate in STEM in the Park
CMA Professor Elainie Lillios and six BGSU graduate composers representing BGSUElectroacoustics will host a hands (and ears)-on display at STEM in the Park, a young persons fair featuring interactive displays and activities involving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM.) Their booth’s title, “What’s that CRAZY Sound? Making Music with Technology” features a recording and sound processing station, a video tracking system that translates the human image into music, and two iPads loaded with fun sound apps. Jennifer Higdon’s latest CD
Pulitzer Prizer/Grammy award winner and BGSU alumna Jennifer Higdon’s latest CD has been issued on the Naxos American Classics Series. It contains her Sky Quartet (string quartet), Amazing Grace” (arr. for string quartet), Dark Wood (bassoon, violin, cello, piano), Viola Sonata, and String Trio (violin, viola, cello), performed by the Serafin String Quartet with Charles Abramovic (piano) and Eric Stomberg (bassoon).
Andrew Feyes accepts academic position
Andrew Feyes, Bachelor of Music Education (2003), has recently been appointed Interim Director of Bands at The University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Chris Albrecht, trumpet alumnus, placed well in international competition
Chris Albrecht, Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance (2009), was a finalist in the International Trumpet Guild Orchestral Excerpts Competition this past summer. The conference was held from June 11-15, 2013 in Grand Rapids, MI . Chris was the overall second place winner. He received his MM from the University of Michigan and is completing a DMA at Arizona State University.
