Upcoming Performances of Works by Faculty Composer Christopher Dietz

In the coming months, BGSU College of Musical Arts faculty composer Christopher Dietz will have a number of pieces performed, including performances at the Florida State University Festival of New Music, and at the College Music Society’s 2011 International Conference in Seoul, South Korea.

“La Fleur du Ciel” for scordatura violin, viola, cello will be performed at the Tutti Festival of New Music at Denison University on March 4, 2011 by
CMA violist Megan Fergusson and 2 members of the Toledo Symphony.

“Five Reflections on the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám” for solo piano was premiered at Elon University’s Symposium on Words and Music in September by
Israeli-American pianist Omri Shimron. The work was later performed at the Society of Composers, Inc. National Conference in November. In July 2010,
Mr. Shimron will present a lecture-recital on the work at the College Music Society’s 2011 International Conference in Seoul, South Korea.

“Gharra” for chamber orchestra will be performed at the Florida State University Festival of New Music on January 26, 2011.

“Le Chemin de Salut” for soprano voice and chamber orchestra will be performed on a special concert by the BGSU New Music Ensemble (composer conducting) at Wright State University on January 11, 2011. The concert closes the “Constructed Territory” art exhibit at WSU. The work will be repeated with the NME on BGSU’s Faculty Composers’ Forum on February 23, 2011 at 8pm in Bryan Hall at the CMA.
