Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Terri L. Horvatich of Huron has received the George L. Mylander Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Horvatich will receive $1,895 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.
This scholarship is offered to a student who is a resident of Sandusky or other Erie County communities.
Horvatich is a 1981 graduate of Norwalk High School.
She is a junior majoring in criminal justice at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List and maintained a 4.0 GPA. She was inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success and Sigma Alphi Pi.
She is the daughter of Howard and Faye Shields.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Jeanelle Harvey of Sandusky has received the George L. Mylander Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Harvey will receive $1,895 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.
This scholarship is offered to a student who is a resident of Sandusky or other Erie County communities.
Harvey is a 2008 graduate of Virtual Community School of Ohio.
She is a senior majoring in social work at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Jimmie and Jeanette Harvey.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Gregory David Baker of Huron has received the Huron Rotary Club Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Baker will receive $750 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Applicants must be graduates, or candidates for graduation from Huron High School, St. Mary’s Central Catholic, or EHOVE and they must reside in the Huron City School District. The recipient must have community service hours.
Baker is a 2013 graduate of Huron High School where he earned several awards including the Marines Athletic Award, the Knights of Columbus Youth of the Month, the Huron Soccer UTLGIO Award, Sandusky Bay Conference Honorable Mention for soccer, and Huron High School Band Section of the Year. While in high school he was involved in football, soccer, basketball, track and field, Saint Peter’s Youth Group, and Saint Peter’s Youth Group Band.
He is a freshman majoring in sports management at BGSU Firelands.
He is the son of Christopher and Karen Baker of Huron.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Kristin Nicole Albright of Norwalk has received the BGSU Firelands Academic Tournament Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Albright will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.
This scholarship, sponsored by BGSU Firelands, is awarded to a graduate of the high school that places first in the annual BGSU Firelands Academic Tournament.
Albright is a 2013 graduate of Norwalk High School where she earned varsity letters, the Gold Tassel Award for maintaining a 3.6 or higher GPA, and the Citizenship Award. While in high school she was active in Art Club, soccer, and track.
She is a freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Rick and Lisa Albright of Norwalk.

Fremont resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Tracy Sue Weis of Fremont has received the Mary Fenker Book Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Weis will receive $565 towards her textbooks for the 2013-2014 academic year.
This scholarship, given by a generous donation from Mary L. Fenker of Sandusky, is available to full- and part-time students from Erie County. Recipients must major in nursing or early childhood education, maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate financial need. Community and school involvement is also considered.
Weis is a 2004 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.
She is a sophomore at BGSU Firelands.

This scholarship is available to students who are residents of Sandusky or other Erie County communities.
Bell is a 1979 graduate of Montpelier High School, Montpelier, OH.
He is a sophomore majoring in human services at BGSU Firelands where he has been active with the Science and Environmental Club.
He is married to Jennifer Bell of Huron.

This scholarship is available to students who are residents of Sandusky or other Erie County communities.
Chapman is a 2011 graduate of Huron High School where she earned a Diploma of Distinction and a State of Ohio honors diploma. She has been a volunteer at Father’s Heart Ministries.
She is a junior majoring in criminal justice at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List.
She is the daughter of Becky Chapman of Huron.

Ludwig is a 2011 graduate of Edison High School.
She is a junior majoring in visual communication technology at BGSU Firelands.

Huron, Ohio – Abby Therese Swanson of Monroevillle has received the Mylander Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Swanson will receive $1,646 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.
This scholarship is available to students who are residents of Sandusky or other Erie County communities.
Swanson is a 2013 graduate of Monroeville High School where she achieved high honors and was a Distinguished Scholar.
She is a sophomore majoring in psychology at BGSU Firelands.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Kaitlyn A. Stradtman of Huron has received the Shelley Lynn Roesch Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Stradtman will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.
This endowed award was established in 2010 by Shelley Roesch’s father, Wayne Roesch of Milan. Shelley was born in 1981 with cerebral palsy and was challenged by autism and seizures. She and her father created special memories visiting the grounds of BGSU Firelands where her father received both his associate and bachelor’s degrees. Shelley passed away in 2009 at the age of 28. The recipient of this award must be, or plan to be, a part-time student pursuing a degree at BGSU Firelands. Preference is given to a student who is planning to teach in the field of special education or a related field, or a student who is identified as a special needs individual.
Stradtman is a 2012 graduate of Huron High School where she was on the merit and honor rolls. She was active in soccer, track, French Club, CARD Program, Chorale, O.M.E.A. Solo and Ensemble competitions, and Teacher Academy Program. In soccer she earned four varsity letters, was the senior captain, earned Honorable Mention all SBC three times, and earned Honorable Mention All-District once. She earned two varsity letters in track.
She is a sophomore majoring in Inclusive Early Childhood Education at BGSU Firelands where she has been active with the Firelands Chapter of the Ohio Student Education Association.
She is the daughter of Jared and Kristine Stradtman of Huron.
