Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Courtney Noelle Brown of Norwalk has received the Frank A. and Anna I. McBride Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Brown will receive $1,008 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.
This endowed award was given by Dr. James H. and Mrs. Margaret B. McBride in memory of Dr. McBride’s parents, Frank and Anna McBride. Students from any discipline may receive the award, however, primary consideration will be given to deserving students with musical interests.
Brown is a 2012 graduate of Norwalk High where she was on the honor roll and received a senior plaque for band. While in high school she was involved in marching band, concert band, and Book Club.
She is a freshman majoring in psychology at BGSU Firelands.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Jennifer L. Comparette of Sandusky has received the Ken and Rhonda Watt Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Comparette will receive $5,000 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.
This scholarship, given by Ken and Rhonda Watt is awarded to a full-time BGSU Firelands student who is entering their senior year and completing a bachelor’s degree. The recipient must have a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate need.
Comparette is a 2010 graduate of Perkins High School where she was on the honor roll and earned two academic letters. While in high school she was inivolved in National Honor Society, Aim for Excellence, and Student Council. Her volunteer work includes Big Brothers Big Sisters, Clothe a Child, tutoring elementary school children and special needs students, being a leader for Kids Camp, and being a leader for her church’s Vaction Bible School.
She is a senior majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands where she has been active in the Firelands Ohio Student Education Association.
She is the daughter of William and Cindy Comparette of Sandusky.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Lynn E. Joseph of Sandusky has received the Dr. Joseph F. Krauter Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Joseph will receive $1,424 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.
This endowed scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Joseph F. Krauter, a BGSU Firelands professor from 1969 to 1989. Non-traditional students with a 2.5 GPA can be considered with preference given to students who have served in the military, who are full-time students, and who reside in Erie, Huron, or Ottawa counties. Special emphasis is placed on students who are working while attending college, but who are in jeopardy of dropping out due to financial
reasons.
Joseph is a 1986 graduate of Eastwood High School in Pemberville, OH.
He is a Sophomore majoring in engineering at BGSU Firelands.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Jacqueline McClune of Norwalk has received the Dr. Judith A. Sommers Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. McClune will receive $1,974 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Judith A. Schroeder Sommers established this fund to support a student from Huron County. Preference is given to a student from Norwalk High School majoring in education. The recipient must be at least a sophomore and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.
McClune is a 2011 graduate of Norwalk High School.
She is a junior majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List and a member of the Firelands Ohio Student Education Association and the Firelands College Theatre Club. She has been inducted into The National Society of Leadership and Success, Pi Lambda Theta, Alpha Lambda Delta, and The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She is a team member at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk.
She is the daughter of Jim McClune and Sandra Plaskett.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Jena Marie Meggitt of Sandusky has received the Richard A. Jeffrey Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Meggitt will receive $750 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.
This scholarship is made possible through the generous donations of friends and family of Richard A. Jeffrey. Erie County residents who are graduates of Sandusky, St. Mary’s Central Catholic, Perkins, Edison, Huron or Margaretta high schools and are majoring in nursing, medicine or science who have a 3.0 GPA are eligible for consideration. Community service is also important.
Meggitt is a 2013 graduate of Sandusky High School where she had perfect attendance, was in the top ten of her class, and earned an Honors Diploma. She earned several awards and honors including the Career Tech April Student of the Month, the Career Tech Student of the Year, Elks Student of the Month, Rotary Student of the Month, Defensive Player of the Year in soccer, Second Team all District in soccer, MVP in soccer, Honorable Mention in soccer, Defensive Player of the Year in softball, Honorable Mention all Greater Buckeye Conference in softball, Greater Buckeye Conference Champs in softball, Second Team all Greater Buckeye Conference in softball, and First Team all Northern Ohio League in softball. While in high school she was active in Student Council, National Technical Honors Society, National Honors Society, Pep Club, Acappella Choir, soccer, cheerleading, softball, and Skills USA.
She is a freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Laurie Yontz of Sandusky.

Fremont resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – David Michael Stover of Fremont has received the Grace L. Keller Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Stover will receive $813 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.
This endowed scholarship, created in honor of Grace Keller, supports her commitment to the field of education and to recognize the crucial and valuable role that BGSU Firelands holds in the community. The scholarship is available to a continuing student at BGSU Firelands. The recipient must possess a minimum 3.3 GPA and be studying in the College of Education and Human Development.
Stover is a 2000 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.
He is a senior majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands where he has been on the Dean’s List.
