Local residents receive scholarships to attend BGSU Firelands

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Jessica R. Crissman of Sandusky has received an anonymously funded scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Crissman will receive $2,000 towards tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year.
This award was established in 2001 by an anonymous donor. Awards are available to both full- and part-time students. Need is a factor.
Crissman is a 2008 graduate of Perkins High School.
She is a senior majoring in middle school education with an empahsis on social studies and science at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List every semester.
She is the daughter of Ted and Janine Bertsch of Sanduksy.

Bellevue resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Hannah Lynn DeBlase of Bellevue has received an anonymously funded scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. DeBlase will receive $2,000 towards tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year.
This award was established in 2001 by an anonymous donor. Awards are available to both full- and part-time students. Need is a factor.
DeBlase is a 2012 graduate of Bellevue High School where she was involved in volleyball, softball, Student Council, Key Club, and National Honor Society. While in school she earned several awards and honors including the Elks’ Academic Award, the Woodmen of the World History Award, the Scholar-Athlete Award, an Award of Merit, and an Award of Educational Achievement, she was the Americanism contest winner, on the honor roll, and earned an academic letter.
She is an entering freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Vince and Diane DeBlase of Bellevue.

Castalia resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Elizabeth Ann Ballard of Castalia has received the Bowling Green State University Firelands College Campus Direct Scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands. Ballard will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year.
An anonymous donor established this scholarship to support students attending BGSU Firelands and pursuing a degree in the field of nursing or allied health.
Ballard is a 2000 graduate of Margaretta High School.
She is a senior majoring in allied health sciences at BGSU Firelands.
She is married to Jerry Ballard and she is the daughter of Gregg and Karen Keller of Sandusky.

Willard resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Brenda Elaine Daniel of Willard has received the Bowling Green State University Firelands College Campus Direct Scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands. Daniel will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year.
An anonymous donor established this scholarship to support students attending BGSU Firelands and pursuing a degree in the field of nursing or allied health.
Daniel is a 1983 graduate of Willard Christian Academy where she was voted Most Outstanding Junior on Student Council. While in school she was active with the Richmond Mother’s Helpers 4-H Club, and the Future Homemakers of America/Home Economics Related Occupations chapter at Pioneer Career and Technology Center. Since high school she has been the Head Steward of Food, the Director of Vacation Bible School, and the Nursery Director at the Willard Church of the Nazarene. She has been a volunteer at the Willard Area Food Bank and Plymouth-Shiloh Food Bank.
She is a sophomore majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.
She is married to Joseph Daniel.

Huron, Ohio – Monali Hitendrakumar Shah of Sandusky has received the Bowling Green State University Firelands College Campus Direct Scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands. Shah will receive $2,500 towards tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Shah is a 2011 graduate of Perkins High School where she twice participated in the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics State Tournament and she was in the choir.
She is a sophomore majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands. While in college she has become a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
She is the daughter of Hitendrakumar and Nutan Shah of Sandusky.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Benjamin William Faggionato of Huron has received the Bowling Green State University Firelands College Faculty and Staff Scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands. Faggionato will receive $1,695 towards tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year.
This award is available to a full- or part-time student with demonstrated financial need.
Faggionato is a 2012 graduate of Edison High School where he earned four varsity letters and was involved in wrestling, cross country, and track. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America.
He is an entering freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.
He is the son of Randy and Lynn Faggionato.

Parker is a 2011 graduate of St. Paul High School.
She is a sophomore majoring in English literature at BGSU Firelands where she has been active with the Women’s Resource Group.
She is the daughter of Benjamin and Anne Parker of Norwalk.

Bellevue resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Rebecca A. Nottke of Bellevue has received the Edward and Donna (Bender) Hamer Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Nottke will receive $761 towards tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year.
This endowed scholarship was established in 2002 by Donna Hamer. This award is available to a full-time student at BGSU Firelands. School and community activities are a factor for this award.
Nottke is a 2008 graduate of Bellevue Senior High School where she earned the Citizenship Award and a Certificate of Outstanding Scholastic Achievement, she was on the honor roll, and part of the Leadership Academy.
She is a senior majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List, was inducted into the Society of the Flame, and is a member of the Science and Environmental Club.
She is the daughter of Micheal and Amy Nottke of Bellevue.
