Monroeville resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Riley Harris Kendall of Monroeville has received the Clarissa Ann Givens Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. He will receive $1,622 towards tuition for the 2016-2017 academic year.

This endowed scholarship was established in memory of Clarissa Givens, a Bowling Green State University student. This award is available to both full- and part-time students.

Kendall is a 2016 graduate of Monroeville High School where he graduated magna cum laude. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Model United Nations. He received First Team All-Academic for football and basketball, the Steve Moore Coaches Award, and Financial Management and Social Studies Student of the Year awards.

Kendall is a freshman majoring in applied health science at BGSU Firelands.

He is the son of Chris Gravenhorst of Monroeville.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Kelly L. Wilhelm of Sandusky has received the Civista Bank Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $500 towards tuition for the 2016-2017 academic year.

This award is available to students who are enrolled on either a full- or part-time basis. Students who demonstrate need and reside in Civista Bank’s marketing area are given special consideration for this award.

Wilhelm is a 1995 graduate of Perkins High School.

She is a sophomore majoring in diagnostic medical sonography and applied health science at BGSU Firelands.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Marina Dolores Abel of Norwalk has received the Judith A. Sommers Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $1,974 towards tuition for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Judith A. Schroeder Sommers established this fund to support a student from Huron County. Preference is given to a student from Norwalk High School majoring in education. The recipient must be at least a sophomore and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.

Abel is a 2012 graduate of St. Paul High School.

She is a junior majoring in inclusive early childhood education at BGSU Firelands where she is on the Dean’s List.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Matthew Joseph Burmeister of Huron has received the Joseph F. Krauter Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. He will receive $1,081 towards tuition for the 2016-2017 academic year.

This endowed scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Joseph F. Krauter, a BGSU Firelands professor from 1969 to 1989. Nontraditional students with a 2.5 GPA are considered with preference given to students who have served in the military, who are full-time students, and who reside in Erie, Huron, or Ottawa counties. Special emphasis is placed on students who are working while attending college.

Burmeister is a 2007 graduate of Huron High School.

Burmeister is a junior at BGSU Firelands and majoring in computer engineering where he is on the Dean’s List.

He is married to Sarah Burmeister of Huron.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Shelby Tillinghast of Norwalk has received the John & Sandy Doering Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $573 towards tuition for the 2016-2017 academic year.

This scholarship is available to full- and part-time students from Erie, Huron, and Ottawa counties who are pursuing majors in business or sociology. A 3.0 GPA is required and financial need is considered.

Tillinghast is a 2016 graduate of Edison High School.

She is a freshman majoring in business administration with a management specialization at BGSU Firelands.

Tillinghast is the daughter of Melissa and Jason Tillinghast.
