Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Jessalyn Audra Vogt of Norwalk has received The Janell J. Graves Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $1,764 towards tuition for the 2016-2017 academic year.

This scholarship was established in 2004 by the Jan and Michele Graves family. The recipient must enroll at BGSU Firelands within one year of high school and graduate from high school in Erie, Huron, and Ottawa county. Entering freshman must have at least a 3.2 GPA and returning college students must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to a freshman, but traditional age sophomores will also be considered. Recipients must be actively involved in outside activities either on campus or within the community.

Vogt is a 2016 graduate of Western Reserve High School. She was awarded the National Engaged Leader Award by Sigma Alpha Pi. She graduated with an Honor’s Diploma and an associates degree in science from BGSU Firelands through the College Credit Plus Program. She was in 4H, Equestrian Club, and volunteered at Harbor House. Vogt represented Huron County at the Ohio State Fair and volunteered her time as a reading mentor for Project More through Norwalk Maplehurst Elementary. She was inducted into Sigma Alpha Pi and Western Reserve National Honor Society.

Vogt is a freshman majoring in inclusive early chidhood education at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Christine and Brian Vogt of Norwalk.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Joshua Caleb Robinson of Sandusky has received the Janell J. Graves to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. He will receive $1,764 towards tuition for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Bridget Ann Moriarty of Huron has received the DeBard Family Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $1,188 towards tuition for the 2016-2017 academic year.

This scholarship was established by the Robert DeBard family. DeBard is the former dean of BGSU Firelands and a retired professor of Bowling Green State University. This scholarship is awarded to a full-time student pursuing a degree in business or education, who is from Erie County. Financial need and a 3.0 GPA or better are preferred.

Moriarty is a 2014 graduate of Huron High School.

Moriarty is a sophomore majoring in inclusive early childhood education at BGSU Firelands where she is on the Dean’s List.

She is the daughter of Teresa and James Moriarty of Huron.

Clyde resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Taya Emily-Marie Rohrbacher of Clyde has received the James and Margaret McBride Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $1,144 towards tuition for the 2016-2017 academic year.

This scholarship was created by Margaret McBride. Although students from any discipline may receive the award, preference is given to deserving students with musical interests.

Rohrbacher is a 2016 graduate of Clyde High School. She received multiple academic awards, a Renaissance Letter Award, and the Presidential Silver Seal Award. She also received a choir letter and an academic letter. She was in Science, Spanish, and Drama clubs.

Rohrbacher is a freshman at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Leita and Chris Rohrbacher of Clyde.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Sydney Jean Kramer of Norwalk has received the James E. Cole Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $1,519 towards tuition for the 2016-2017 academic year.

This scholarship is available to seniors from Norwalk or St. Paul high schools. High school academic achievement plus potential for scholarly success in college are primary considerations for this scholarship.

Kramer is a junior majoring in social work at BGSU Firelands where she is on the Dean’s List. She is a member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Ridgefield County Kids 4H Club, and the Huron County Jr. Fair Board. She was a 4H camp counselor and is currently the Huron County Fair superintendent. Kramer is currently an assistant cross country coach for St. Paul High School and Junior High.

She is the daughter of Kelly and Matthew Kramer of Norwalk.

Castalia resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Samuel William Kuns of Castalia has received the NBC Universal-Buckeye CableSystem Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. He will receive $1,139 towards tuition for the 2016-2017 academic year.

This scholarship is be available to full- and part-time students who reside in Erie County and are graduates or candidates for graduation from any high school in Erie County. Need is a consideration for this award.

Kuns is a 2014 graduate of Margaretta High School where he had perfect attendance and was on the Honor Roll. He received multiple academic letters and was student of the month for Sandusky Rotary and Citizens Bank. He was a member of SADD, Chess Club, and National Honor Society.

Kuns is a Junior at BGSU Firelands and majoring in neuroscience. He is a member of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars BGSU Chapter and The National Society of Leadership and Success.

He is the son of Tammy and Brian Kuns of Castalia.
