Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Samantha Marie Clonch of Sandusky has received an anonymous scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Clonch will receive $2,500 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

This award was established in 2001 as an anonymous donation. Awards are available to both full- and part-time students. Need is a factor.

Clonch is a 2012 graduate of Perkins High School were she received the President’s Award for Academic Excellence, was on the honor roll, participated in marching band and wind ensemble, and was inducted into the National Honor Society.

She is a junior majoring in education at BGSU Firelands where has been on the Dean’s List and she has been a speaker for ElderCollege. In her free time she volunteers at the Sandusky Library.

She is the daughter of Ken and Tammy Clonch of Sandusky.

Bellevue resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU

Huron, Ohio – Hannah Lynn DeBlase of Bellevue has received an anonymous scholarship to attend Bowling Green State. DeBlase will receive $2,500 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

DeBlase is a 2012 graduate of Bellevue High School.

She is a junior majoring in nursing at BGSU where she has been on the Dean’s List, participated in the Student Wellness Network, Peer Education, and was a College of Health and Human Services Peer Adviser.

She is the daughter of Vince and Diane DeBlase of Bellevue.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Merissa Paige Case of Norwalk has received the BGSU Firelands Academic Tournament Scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands. Case will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

This scholarship, sponsored by BGSU Firelands, is awarded to a graduate of the high school that places first in the annual BGSU Firelands Academic Tournament.

Case is a 2014 graduate of Norwalk High School where she particpated in track, the Foreign Language Club, and was on the honor roll.

She is a freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Charles Case and Benilda Sepeda.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Cody Allen Reed of Norwalk has received the John F. & Doris E. Ernsthausen Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Reed will receive $1,568 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

This scholarship is one of two scholarships that are awarded annually to graduating seniors of either Norwalk or Norwalk St. Paul high schools. Academic achievement of a level promising success in college is the chief qualification.

Reed is a 2014 graduate of Norwalk High School where he earned several awards including Kiwanis Student of the Month, and Most Valuable Orchestra Student. He was on the honor roll and Principle’s List, was president of the orchestra, and particpated in school plays. Outside of school activities, he was the co-chairman of the Huron County Youth Grantmaking Council and volunteered for the Piggyback Foundation.

Reed is a freshman majoring in criminal justice at BGSU Firelands.

He is the son of John Reed and Stephanie Miller of Norwalk.

Huron, Ohio – Gage M. Will of Sandusky has received the Richard P. “Dick” Smith BGSU Firelands Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Will will receive $808 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

This award is funded through an endowment by Dick and Connie Smith in recognition of the special challenges adult learners overcome while pursuing their higher education goals. The scholarship is available to nontraditional students who have completed their first year of study at BGSU Firelands. Financial need is a factor.

Will is a 2007 graduate of Sandusky High School.

He is a senior majoring in business administration at BGSU Firelands.

Huron, Ohio – Ana Mae Fischer of Huron has received the Sidney Frohman Foundation Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Fischer will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

This scholarship is available to students who are graduates of Erie County high schools and who are enrolled full time.

Fischer is a 2012 graduate of Edison High School where she earned several awards and honors as a member of the varsity golf team, multiple band and music awards, and was recognized for outstanding achievement as a Buckeye Girls State Delegate. While in high school she participated in the pre-engineering program at BGSU Firelands where she was on the first team for robot design.

She is a junior majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s list and is involved with the National Society of Leadership and Success.

She is the daughter of William and Marian Fischer of Huron.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Ronald F. Weber of Huron has received the William C. Shafer Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Weber will receive $793 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Audrey Shafer established the William C. Shafer Scholarship in 2008 in memory of her late husband, who passed away in 1991. He encouraged her to continue her education as a non-traditional student. It was his wish to establish a scholarship at BGSU Firelands in appreciation of the opportunities it provides for non-traditional students. The recipient must be a non-traditional student at BGSU Firelands pursing a four-year Bachelor of Science in business administration. Preference is given to graduates of Sandusky High School, or Erie County, if no Sandusky High School graduate exists. Financial need is a factor.

Weber is a 1984 graduate of Sandusky High School.

He is a senior majoring in business administration at BGSU Firelands. He has been inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society.
