Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Erin M. Paule of Sandusky has received the Mary L. Fenker Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Paule will receive $750 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

This scholarship, given by a generous donation from Mary L. Fenker of Sandusky, is available to full- and part-time students from Erie County. Recipients must major in nursing or early childhood education, maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate financial need. Community and school involvement is also considered.

Paule is a 2014 graduate of Margaretta High School where she had perfect attendance, was on the honor roll, and was involved in Drama Club and choir. While in high school she earned several awards including the National School Choral Award, an academic letter, and the Outstanding Student in Drama Award.

She is an entering freshman majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Donald Paule and Rebecca Strickfaden.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Cody Richard Dominick of Sandusky has received the Buckeye CableSystem Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Dominick will receive $1,149 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

This endowed scholarship is available to students who reside in Erie County.

Dominick is a 2014 graduate of Perkins High School where he was involved in National Honors Society, varsity tennis, varsity soccer, Aim For Excellence, student council, and served as the class historian.

While in high school he earned several awards and recognitions including the ABCD Award, Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award, the Elks Club Teen of the Month, the Rotary Club Student of the Month, and he was the school winner for the American Mathematics Competitions Contest. He was named First Team All-Conference in tennis and Second Team All-District in tennis.

He is an entering freshman majoring in math education at BGSU Firelands.

He is the son of Richard and Sherri Dominick of Sandusky.

Willard resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Erica Lynn de Lara of Willard has received the Frank A. and Anna I. McBride Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. De Lara will receive $1,063 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

This endowed award was given by Dr. James H. and Mrs. Margaret B. McBride in memory of Dr. McBride’s parents, Frank and Anna McBride. Students from any discipline may receive the award, however, primary consideration will be given to deserving students with musical interests.

De Lara is a 2014 graduate of Willard High School where she was involved in National Honors Society, orchestra, choir, flag corps, theatre, volleyball, and wreslerettes. During her senior year she earned the National School Orchestra Award.

She is an entering freshman majoring in radiology technology at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Jose and Ronda de Lara of Willard.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Shelby Anne Fielitz of Norwalk has received the Pauline L. Wallace Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Fielitz will receive $399 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

This scholarship was initiated by Wallace’s daughters, with the support of relatives and friends, in recognition of her professional prominence and dedication in the field of elementary education.

Fielitz is a 2012 graduate of Norwalk High School where she was on the honor roll and active with the Key Club and Art Club.

She is a junior majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List.

She is the daughter of Tammy Walker of Norwalk.

Marblehead resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Tina Renee Jean Molnar of Marblehead has received the Therese and Alonzo Allen Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Molnar will receive $510 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

This scholarship, established in 2002 by Conrad and Deanna Allen, is available to a full-time underrepresented, undergraduate who is majoring in business or education. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required, but preference is given to students with a higher GPA.

Molnar is a 1985 graduate of Fremont Ross High School where she was inducted into the National Honor Society. Since graduating high school she has been an officer in the County Commissioners Clerk’s and Engineer’s Administrative Professionals Association and a member of the Danbury Board of Education.

She is a sophomore majoring in business management at BGSU Firelands.

She is married to Donald Molnar of Marblehead.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Tyler Szmik of Sandusky has received the Dudley Allen White Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Szmik will receive $849 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

This scholarship, established in 2002 by Alice Rau, White’s sister, is available to a student who is a resident of Erie or Huron counties and is pursuing a bachelor of liberal studies. Involvement in school and community activities and financial need are considered.

Szmik is a 2003 graduate of Margaretta High School.

He is a sophomore majoring in pre-law at BGSU Firelands where he has been on the Dean’s List.

He is the son of Robert and Virginia Szmik of Sandusky.
