Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Madison Hunter Brant of Huron has received the Carol R. and Elizabeth Swanbeck Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Brant will receive $451 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Established by family, friends, and admirers of the late Swanbecks, this scholarship is awarded to a graduate, or candidate for graduation, of Huron High School. Financial need is the primary criterion, along with scholastic achievement and participation in activities.
Brant is a 2014 graduate of Huron High School where she was named student of the month during her freshman year. While in high school she participated in Art Club and swimming.
She is an entering freshman majoring in inclusive early childhood education at BGSU Firelands.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Kasey Suzanne Johnson of Sandusky has received the James H. and Margaret B. McBride Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Johnson will receive $1,093 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
This scholarship was created by Margaret McBride. Although students from any discipline may receive the award, preference should be given to deserving students with musical interests.
Johnson is a 2014 graduate of Sandusky High School where she participated in choir, Bell Choir, orchestra, and Strads, a select orchestra ensemble. Throughout high school she participated in District II Honors Choir.
She is an entering freshman at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of James and Lois Johnson of Sandusky.

Monroeville resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Cheyanna N. Littlejohn of Monroeville has received the Huron County Medical Auxiliary Endowment Fund for Health Careers Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Littlejohn will receive $1,312 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
This scholarship, established by the former Huron County Medical Auxiliary, is awarded annually to a Huron County resident who is majoring in a health career, excluding psychology. Freshman and continuing students pursuing studies on a full- or part-time basis are eligible. Financial need is a priority for consideration.
Littlejohn is a 2014 graduate of Monroeville High School where she was involved in Junior Project Leadership, Honors Choir, choir, solo and ensemble competitions, softball, volleyball, and basketball. While in school she earned several awards and recognitions including the American Citizenship Award, the Science Fair Scholarship Day Finalist Award, the National School Choral Award, the Most Valuable Player Award for softball, the Sportsmanship Award for softball, the Most Improved Award for volleyball and choir, the Captains Award, and numerous Ohio Music Education Association competition medals. She was also named Second Team all Academic in softball and First Team all Conference in softball.
She is an entering freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Steve and Karen Littlejohn of Monroeville.

Milan resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Madeline Claire Ludwig of Milan has received the Laura C. Keller Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Ludwig will receive $939 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Laura Keller received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Bowling Green State University in education. During her teaching career, she taught pre-school, kindergarten, grades 1 through 8 and served as an assistant college administrator. She currently is involved in organizations centered on improving education both domestically and internationally. She continues to be active in the BGSU President’s Club. This scholarship was established to promote quality education and to increase the significant influence of teachers in today’s society. This scholarship is available to a continuing student. The recipient must possess a 3.3 GPA, be pursuing a major in the college of education and human development, and demonstrate leadership skills as exhibited by past or current extracurricular, civic, or work involvement.
Ludwig is a 2011 graduate of Edison High School. Since high school, she has served the community as a musical theatre instructor, a Camp Invention counselor, and an Ohio High School Speech League speech and debate judge.
She is a senior majoring in inclusive early childhood education at BGSU Firelands where she has been involved with the National Society of Leadership and Success.
She is the daughter of Steven Ludwig and Judith Ludwig.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Jacqueline McClune of Norwalk has received the Dr. Judith A. Sommers Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. McClune will receive $2,000 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Judith A. Schroeder Sommers established this fund to support a student from Huron County. Preference is given to a student from Norwalk High School majoring in education. The recipient must be at least a sophomore and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.
McClune is a 2011 graduate of Norwalk High School.
She is a senior majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List and a member of the Firelands Ohio Student Education Association and the Student Theatre Guild. She has been inducted into The National Society of Leadership and Success, Pi Lambda Theta, Alpha Lambda Delta, and The National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
She is the daughter of Jim McClune and Sandra Plaskett.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Kayla Breann St. John of Norwalk has received the Milan Chamber of Commerce Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. St. John will receive $500 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
This scholarship is awarded to a student who is a graduate or candidate for graduation from Edison High School. The recipient must be enrolled on a full-time basis, have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and demonstrate financial need.
St. John is a 2014 graduate of Edison High School where she received the Most Outstanding Achiever Award, was on the honor roll, and was a member of National Tech Honors Society, Chargerettes, Spanish Club, Key Club, and SkillsUSA.
She is an entering freshman majoring in social work at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Melissa Caskey of Norwalk.
