BGSU Firelands students receive scholarships

New Riegel resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Amanda Rose Reinhart of New Riegel has received the BGSU Firelands Community Scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands. Reinhart will receive $931 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
This scholarship is available to entering freshman and continuing students who are attending on either a full or part-time basis. Funds for this scholarship are given by people in the BGSU Firelands community through solicitations by the BGSU Foundation Board.
Reinhart is a 2011 graduate of New Riegel High School where she was inducted into the National Honor Society and she was active in Spanish Club, 4-H, yearbook, cheerleading and track. She won multiple awards including the National Machinery Award, the Jan Barton Award, an Award of Merit, the Academic Boosters Gold Medal and the Top of the Class Honor Award. She was also a Midland Athletic League Scholar Athlete.
She is a freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Glenn and Mary Reinhart of New Riegel.

Lakeside Marblehead resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Tyson Paul Wilford of Lakeside Marblehead has received the BGSU Firelands Community Scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands College. Wilford will receive $931 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
This scholarship is available to entering freshman and continuing students who are attending on either a full or part-time basis. Funds for this scholarship are given by people in the BGSU Firelands community through solicitations by the BGSU Foundation Board.
Wilford is a 1997 graduate of Lexington High School.
He is a junior majoring in accounting and economics at BGSU Firelands where he has been on the Dean’s List.
He is the son of Paul and Paula Wilford of Port Clinton.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Andrew P. Montana of Norwalk has received the Dr. Joseph F. Krauter Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Montana will receive $860 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
This endowed scholarship was established in memory of Joseph F. Krauter, a BGSU Firelands professor from 1969 to 1989. Non-traditional students with a 2.5 GPA are eligible. Preference is given to students who have served in the military, who are full-time students and who reside in Erie, Huron or Ottawa counties. Special consideration is given to students who are working while attending college, but who are in jeopardy of dropping out due to financial reasons.
This memorial scholarship was established by former students and friends of Krauter. He was eulogized by one former student who said, “This is a special tribute and thank you to an outstanding professor. Peace be with you Dr. Krauter, for all the heartfelt deeds you so kindly extended to all of your college students. For your gentle hand of encouragement and the door that was always open when others were shut. Sharing the greatest gift of yourself through knowledge, caring, and compassion for others, you taught us to believe in ourselves. You challenged us to succeed in our education and to never give up. You taught us life is precious and has meaning and hope for all.”
Montana is a 1983 graduate of Morton West High School.
He is a junior majoring in criminal justice at BGSU Firelands.
He is the son of Jack and Georgia Montana of Stickney, IL.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – LeAnn L. Close of Sandusky has received the Home Savings Business Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Close will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
This scholarship was established in 2006 by the Home Savings Charitable Foundation. Recipients of this award are chosen from students in the Norwalk/Sandusky area who have completed their first year of studies at BGSU Firelands. The recipient must be a business major who has at least a 3.0 GPA.
Close is a 1998 graduate of Sandusky High School.
She is a junior majoring in business at BGSU Firelands where she has earned an associate of science with distinction and she has been involved with Speech Activities Organization – Theatre. She is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success to which she was given presidential induction. She has received the National Excellence in Leadership Award.
She is married to Derrick Close and she is the daughter of Donald and Catherine Platte of Sandusky.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Dana Brooke Bouck of Norwalk has received the Home Savings Business Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Bouck will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
This scholarship was established in 2006 by the Home Savings Charitable Foundation. Recipients of this award are chosen from students in the Norwalk/Sandusky area who have completed their first year of studies at BGSU Firelands. The recipient must be a business major who has at least a 3.0 GPA.
Bouck is a 1998 graduate of Edison High School where she was inducted into the Quill and Scroll Honor Society, earned a Scholar Athlete Award, and was involved in cheerleading. After high school she was a cheerleading advisor and a dance instructor.
She is a sophomore majoring in business at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List.
She is the daughter of Edward and Barbara Smialowski.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Stephanie Lynn Chapman of Huron has received the Huron Rotary Club Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Chapman will receive $750 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Applicants for this award must be graduates or candidates for graduation from Huron High School, St. Mary Central Catholic High School, or EHOVE with residence in Huron City School District, to be eligible for this award. Students must also have community service hours.
Chapman is a 2011 graduate of Huron High School where she earned a diploma of distinction and a State of Ohio honors diploma. While in high school she was a member of marching band and concert band. She has been a volunteer at Chapel Library and Father’s Heart Ministries.
She is a freshman at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Rebecca Chapman of Huron.

Milan resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Stephanie Nicole Mollohan of Milan has received the Milan Parents Club Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Mollohan will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Graduates of Edison High School who are either continuing college students or incoming freshman are eligible for this award. Students with a “B” or “C” average and financial need are encouraged to apply.
Mollohan is a 2011 graduate of Edison High School where she was involved in golf, band, and basketball. She earned an honors diploma and an academic letter. While in school she was on the honor roll and merit roll and she was named First Team All SBC in golf.
She is a freshman at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Timothy and Lisa Mollohan of Milan.

Milan resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Kylene Marie Williams of Milan has received the Milan Parents Club Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Williams will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Graduates of Edison High School who are either continuing college students or incoming freshman are eligible for this award. Students with a “B” or “C” average and financial need are encouraged to apply.
Williams is a 2011 graduate of Edison High School where she was on the honor roll, merit roll, and earned an academic letter. While in high school she participated in track, volleyball, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Key Club, Spanish Club, Chargerettes, FTMC Autism camp, Art Club, and National Honor Society.
She is a freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Peter and Emily Williams of Milan.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Katia Marie Castile of Norwalk has received the Student Government Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Castile will receive $490 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
This award is available to students with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better in college or a “B” average or better in high school.
Castile is a 1987 graduate of Norwalk High School.
She is a senior majoring in liberal studies at BGSU Firelands where she is the Student Government president and the vice president of the Women’s Resource Group. She has also been involved with Speech Activities Organization – Theatre and Humanity Organized for Peace through Education. While in college she earned the BGSU Feminist Falcon Award and the BGSU Firelands Building Blocks to the Future Award.
She is the daughter of Hans Thumm and Patricia Smith Weber of Norwalk.
