1: Portfolio Introducton
My name is Ashley, I’m 22, and I am a senior at BGSU (IPC major/general business minor) and I am doing this blog for my English 207 class. I love going to see Skarlet Kings shows with my best friend Monica. I graduated from high school with 42 people…no I am not kidding. I enjoy watching movies, boating, jet skiing, camping, watching hockey (Go Red Wings!), swimming, and hanging out with friends and my Sigma Kappa sisters (even though I am an alumnae now). I have a two dogs, a Shih Tzu/Cocker Spaniel mix named Gizmo, and a Miniature Schnauzer named Skamp and I love them to death! Any questions feel free to ask me.
Many professionals use portfolios outside of the academy, but they can also be a useful tool inside the classroom. At the heart of making a portfolio are the acts of collecting, selecting, and reflecting. This process asks students to take responsibility for their education and accept ownership of their work. In addition, portfolios are a good place to turn to show growth, process, and success. Because all of this and more, this semester you will be compiling a portfolio as a final project for this course.
