Story Premise Final Version

Title: War on the 32nd Floor.

Concept: When you least expect it, events can unfold to make you think about the bigger issues.

Premise: A man trying to get to a business meeting meets with a boy protesting the war, who forces him to think about more important issues.

1. The main character is walking to the elevator and stops for a moment when he sees a small boy standing next to the elevator holding a sign protesting the war.

2. The main character looks at his watch, noticing the time, and rushes into the elevator and pushes the button for the 32nd floor.

3. The elevator stops on the 9th floor and opens to the same boy standing there holding his protest sign. The main character looks at the boy and notices the floor has become a desert village and then pushes the button for the 32nd floor again.

4. The elevator stops again on the 11th floor and the doors open to the same boy standing there holding his sign. This time the village is bustling with people. The character looks at the boy in anger and then at his watch and quickly presses the 32nd floor button several times as the doors close.

5. The elevator stops a final time on the 20th floor and the doors open. The main character sees boy standing with his sign but this time there is gun fire and loud noises as the village is under attack. The man urges the boy to come in the elevator but the doors close

6. The doors become dented in with gunfire where the boy was standing. The main character is stunned. The doors open on the 32nd floor but the man is no longer in the elevator. The floor is a normal office again. The camera cuts back down to the street where the man is now standing outside the building holding a protest sign.

Herbert is walking to the elevator in an office building and stops for a moment, looking over at a young boy holding a sign that reads “Stop the war”. Herbert looks at his watch, noticing what time it is and quickly rushes inside the elevator and pressed the button for the 32nd floor. The elevator dings and stops on the 9th floor. The doors open to show the very same boy from downstairs standing there holding his sign. The 9th floor has changed from an office to a desert village. Herbert looks at the boy confused and presses the button for the 32nd floor again. The elevator closes and begins moving up as sounds of a bustling village can faintly be heard. The elevator dings again stopping at the 11th floor. The doors open and once again the boy is standing in front of the elevator holding his sign. The office has now become a bustling village. Herbert looks at boy confused and then at his watch, becoming annoyed and quickly presses the 32nd floor button multiple times as the doors close. The elevator moves upwards and this time faint gunfire can be heard. The elevator stops again only to ding at the 20th floor. As the doors open, Herbert sees the boy holding his sign but the office has become a battlefield. A bullet whizzes by Herbert and hit the wall. Herbert motions for the boy to come in the elevator but the boy does not move. The doors close as Herbert beats on the door, and several bullets dent in the door where the boy was standing. Herbert stumbles back stunned as the elevator begins to move up again. The elevator dings as it finally reaches the 32nd floor and the doors open but Herbert is not in the elevator. Herbert is down next to the elevator holding a sign reading “Stop the war now!”
