Academic Search Complete

  • Here we go…  our first database is Academic Search Complete.   http://maurice.bgsu.edu:80/record=e1000283
  • Before you go to the link, a little explanation.
  • Everyone will find some information in here so it’s a great place to start.  A multi-disciplinary full-text database that includes more than 8,600 full-text journals, of which over 7,500 are peer-reviewed (scholarly). An additional 12,500 journals are indexed in this database, many of which include descriptions, or abstracts, of published articles. Indexing for an additional 13,000+ monographs, reports, conference proceedings, and other kinds of publications is also included. Academic Search Complete is an excellent place to start looking for scholarly journal articles on almost any topic.
  • Tip: Use the advanced search feature.  It gives you more search boxes and allows you to manipulate the keywords you are using to search.
  • Tip: Keep your search words simple and to the point.
  • Tip: When you find an article, look at the subject headings (click on the TITLE of the article and it will display detailed information about the article including the subject headings) which will help with suggestions for other terms to use in your searching.
  • Tip: From the page that comes up when you click on the title of the article – look on the right hand side of the screen and you will see an email icon – click on that and you can email the article to yourself, and, yes, you get the entire full text of the article as long as full text is available for that particular article.
