List of literacy acts I use everyday:
1. Talking with my friends and family
2. Talking on the phone
3. Writing an email to my teachers
4. Writing a paper for school
5. Communicating with the girls and boys I coach in basketball
6. Asking questions to my teachers and raising my hand in class
7. Talking to workers at restaurants and grocery stores
8. Writing in my school blogs
9. Reading my textbooks and studying for tests
10. Reading labels on various food items
11. Watching tv and being able to comprehend what is said and reading what is written on the screen
12. Listening to the radio and being able to know and sing the words
13. Reading the game clock during basketball games
14. Saying team prayer written on every gym wall before each game
15. Read menus at various restaurants
I found your list to be very similar to many of the literacy acts I perform during an average day. I like in question #6 that you mentioned raising your hand. I think hand gestures are huge literacy acts. I would say using such hand gestures and other methods of nonverbal communication are the literacy acts that we use the most.
