For this assignment I chose to make a CD insert for the song “Do Better” by the band Say Anything.  I chose this song because it has a good message, although in a quirky way.  This song is about how a lot of people can tend to be lazy & not try to be better people.  That’s why the lyrics say that “you can do better.”  My take on this song is that it’s telling you to follow your passions & dreams, & to make your life worth more than just going with the flow or not taking risks.  When researching this song, I also got a little inspiration from the album cover, which looks like this:

I think this imagery says a lot about the whole album, as well as the song Do Better.  It’s about becoming your own super hero & being a better, stronger person.

While thinking about these concepts, I found a couple images that I think I will use for my insert design.

I had several ideas for what I wanted to do, including a three page spread, double sided, a booklet format, & even a six page more rectangular spread that will have a band poster on the back when it’s unfolded.  So here are my thumbnails & sketches that I came up with:
