Another amazing bgsu blog
Final Renderings of Project 2 for a 3D instore display. I chose to do a christmas theme.
From a previous post I outlined a 3D model project I decided to create for Adobe trade show exhibit. Here are the final renderings. I ran into a few problems trying to render out as a 3D model for photoshop. Sketchup kept giving me errors because there was apparently too many components. So I was unable to bring into photoshop to add lighting elements which I think would really give some dramatic effect to the exhibit.
I am going to do a exhibit on Adobe. I have gone to a few different trade shows in Chicago and seen what Adobe has done in previous years. Their most important goal is demonstration. No one is going to buy the new software unless they see how its used and/or what is different in tools and methods from the previous versions. There for I wanted to include one big screen where a present could mirror their monitor on a larger screen tv for multiple people to watch. I also wanted to have a few stations where interested buyers can walk up to the computer and test it out for themselves instead of just watching. Adobe and Apple kind of go hand in hand alot of times with how they present. They both have the sleek no frills look and focus on the user being able to sample the products and test them out.
I have chosen this model to reproduce because of the spacious layout and the multiple computer stations and bigger screen tv capabilities.
I have modified my instore display branding a bit. I have decided to create a M&M’s christmas scene. It would mock a decorated living room, fireplace, Christmas tree, chair with table containing milk and cookies. Except everything is displaying M&m’s. The fireplace has many stockings hanging containing the well-known M&M filled candy cane rods. The tree will be decorated with M&M character ornaments. A Santa bag filled with big bags of M&M candy. And finally instead of milk and cookies it will be milk and M&M candy in a character themed candy dish.
I have decided to do an instore branding display on M&M’s. I was thinking that usually the bigger displays don’t show up until holidays for the most part. My display will be a christmas based design. I would have a center display. I haven’t decided but I am thinking kinda of a make-shift gingerbread house that has M&M’s for decoration and also have dispensors. Then there would be two other displays, the two M&M’s characters dressed in Santa suit and elf maybe. Both of them would have hands out that held individual bags of m&m’s. The Santa character would have “the Bag” but instead of presents it would be filled with the large sized bags of M&M’s.
I don’t have any field research pictures of my own. I did research on the internet of different branding displays of candy, M&m’s, Coca Cola and other food displays. My idea isn’t really based off of one specific photo. I just gathered from that research for an in-store branding the display needs to be big, to stand out and have something uniquely different. The display almost has to look out of place for you to really stop you and notice. So with the christmas wonderland look I feel although it might seem a bit big and gaudy, but it would catch shoppers attention.
I am thinking about doing a DVD display. I took pictures at Walmart and Movie Gallery. What I noticed is that some of them are not very organized or visually appealing. Movie Gallery displays are just a bunch of wire racks. Walmart’s displays were a mix. Some were just a stand and packed as many movies in as you could and others had some colorful signage on the cardboard.
My idea is to modernize using more aluminum rods and interactive models. I want to try putting in tv’s or a touch kiosk to sample view the available movies.
