Northwest Ohio college students share their experiences with burnout.
Listen to the story here.
Burnout and stress have been sweeping the nation, according to a 2022 trend report by the American Psychological Association. The condition is something many college students of northwest Ohio know all too well.
Abbey Hatch is a sophomore pharmacy major at the University of Findlay (UF) who became painfully burnt out last fall semester after working so hard just to get grades that she did not feel reflected her effort.
Hatch revealed that she feels UF’s one month winter break was not enough time for students to recover from the fall semester.
Hannah Warrington, sophomore education major at UF, experienced burnout as a result of a demanding college sport on top of her academic pressures.
Warrington’s burnout ultimately led her to her decision to leave college athletics once and for all.
I interviewed Leah Schulze, Senior, Psychology major and honors student at Bowling Green State University (BGSU.) First, Leah discussed how she decided on psychology and what she plans on doing with her degree. Then, she explained her role in BGSU’s D.R.E.A.M, an organization for disability rights, education, and awareness and went on to talk a little about the organization’s goals as of late. The interview ended with Leah discussing how she found her people and her place in college.
