Finding ERIC articles removed due to privacy issues

October 31st, 2012 · No Comments · Resources

ERIC is an important research database for education that includes journal articles (EJ documents) and research reports (ED documents) dating back several decades.

This summer, ERIC removed a number of full-text documents because they contained sensitive personally identifiable information. They are working to clear these documents and restore them to the database, but, in the meantime, you may get an error message that says the article you are trying to retrieve was removed for having identifiable personal information.

If that happens, try searching for your article by title in Summon or use the Journals by Title list to see if the journal with your article in it is available full text in a different database. The library may also have the document in question on microfiche, so you can try asking at the Research & Information Desk. If the document is not available in the Jerome Library collections, you can also request a copy via interlibrary loan.
