Librarians Offer CTL 2012-2013 Learning Community

July 24th, 2012 · No Comments · General, News

Two librarians will be leading a faculty learning community offered through the Center for Teaching & Learning beginning this fall.

Instruction Coordinator Joshua Vossler and Reference and Instruction Librarian Vera Lux invite interested faculty to join them as they explore current research on student information-seeking behaviors. The learning community “Understanding Student Information-Seeking Behaviors to Enhance Student Learning” will meet 6-8 Mondays a semester (approximately bi-weekly) from 10:00-11:30.

The learning community will provide participants the opportunity to gain an increased understanding of their students’ use of information for academic purposes and obstacles they face in the research process.  Participants will also workshop an existing research assignment or create a new one that enhances students’ information literacy skills.  Along the way, participants will become  familiar with some of the University Libraries’ research tools, and ways those tools can augment the research and learning process.
