As previously announced, BGSU is currently participating in statewide trials of both ISI Web of Knowledge (published by Thomson Reuters) and Scopus (published by Elsevier) through November 18. These trials are part of an Intent to Negotiate (ITN) initiated by OhioLINK on behalf of Ohio libraries. By December, librarians at OhioLINK libraries will evaluate both databases and these publishers’ ITN responses and will select one as the best value for OhioLINK libraries.
Members of the BGSU community are encouraged to participate in this process and provide their feedback. Both products are available from the University Libraries’ Trial Databases web page. Both publishers will also be giving online demonstrations of their products.
Scopus Webinars
Online demonstrations of Elsevier’s Scopus database will be held:

OhioLINK WoS/Scopus Comparison Report
The OhioLINK Web of Science/Scopus ITN Review Team has created a 24-page report identifying and comparing six key functionalities in the two products that are key to the needs of OhioLINK users. These are:
- General searching for relevant articles/literature
- Citation searching and research evaluation
- Author productivity
- Institutional research output
- Visualization tools
- Citation management
All members of OhioLINK institutions are invited to review this report. Copies are available at the Jerome Library Research and Information Desk.
