4th and Final Presentation
Posted on April 27th, 2009 at 11:47 am by and

I first and foremost want to say that I hated my presentation. I didn’t feel prepared and everything seemed to lap over one another. I presented my last speech on how to play the game of tennis. I felt that I was knowledgeable to speak on this subject since I played tennis for the last 6yrs and have been a fan of it all my life (Go Serena!!). The only thing is that I should of thought again before I choose this topic because only having 4 minutes to give a “how to” play this game is impossible. I tried to explain the court, which is one of the most important elements to know when playing tennis. Without knowing anything about the court someone can go out there and just hit balls all over the place and eventually, God forbid hurt someone or themselves. I then explained the scoring process which has to be the other most important thing to tennis. The scoring allows individuals to know when to serve and where to serve to. I felt comfortable explaining these things but that’s not all that tennis is made up of. In order to play you must know how to hit so I needed to explain the different serves and swings which I felt stated to complicate my speech.

I felt that my tone was good, but because I had so much information to speak about, I lacked eye contact and the whole ideal of it being an extemporaneous speech went out the door because I had to continue to look on my note cards in order to stay on track. If I had the chance to do it all over again I would probably do the same topic but I would cut some of the things I spoke about. I would practice more cause time was not my friend during this presentation.

2nd Group Presentation

i believe that I did a well job this presentation for my group was fun and interesting. This presentation allowed me to speak a lot and a little of the information in the beginning was confusing, but with the fact that I can speak clearly and straight forward helped our group and identified a strength of mine. I feel that as we present we gain strengths that we didn’t know we had. And being able to explain a point clearly is a strength that I feel I have gained.

As a team I think that we did a great job.! Our presentation was creative and we all jumped into the roles good. My team worked good together besides our meeting conflict but in the end we pulled it together. They helped me a lot to cause as seen in our presentation everyone besides me had a negative sterotype but did positive things. However my stereotype was positive and my group helped me with ideas on how not to say I was negative at home but I live my life to the fullest and still got the work done. My group is great!

I feel that on my next speech since its a solo presentation. I need to practice more since I don’t have my groups support. Make sure I present each point slowly and clearly. Its not that long of a speech but I have a lot of points so I definitely want to make sure I practice.

The overall experience of this speech was fun. We all enjoyed doing the speech and thats very important when presenting that you can connect to the speech.

1st Group Presentation

I personally believe that me and my group did a good job. Considering the amount of information that I had to cover, I kept my composure and was organized, which I believe is to be one of my strengths. Without organization my part of the presentation would of been all over the place. As a team I think my group dud an excellent job. We choose not to have a lot of information on our slides cause we wanted the audience to listen and look at us rather then reading numerous amount of information from the power point.  And I believe we effectively did that. My teammates were wonderful to work with, they worked effortlessly on their sections which made it easy for me to complete my section at the end.

I think that on the next speech I want to improve more on memorization. My goal is to not have any note cards on the next speech. As a team I don’t personally believe that there was anything that we could of improved on we did a very good job. But if I had to choose one thing it would have to be more time on preparation on our speech before we present.

My overall experience of this speech was good. My groups worked well together, I wasn’t as nervous giving this speech. I don’t know if my lack of nervousness was due to having my group there or because I had presented to the class before? Whatever it was I’m gonna make sure I use it the next time I present.

First Speech (Introduction Speech)

I enjoyed doing this speech. I took me a long time brainstorming a topic that I could use to reflect how I am unique. As many of the students may have felt, we don’t see ourselves as unique, me personally just ordinary. I came up with using shoes to reflect me. I tied how family, sports, and individuality all reflect me through my shoes. I felt my speech was strong and creative but my presentation was on the weak side. I read from my note cards to much and my nerves got the best of me. I’m sure when the next speech rolls around ill definitely a be more comfortable, considering I’ve spoke in front of this particular crowd of people before and I’m more aware of how to give an effective extemporaneous speech.
