We are pleased to announce that the Harvard School of Public Health and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute are seeking to fill several faculty positions and the assistant/associate professor level.  These joint recruitments will be based within the DFCI’s Center for Community-Based Research (CCBR), and in the HSPH Department of Society, Human Development and Health.

As you can see from the attached position description, we are seeking outstanding scholars with a strong record of research productivity to join our team that focuses broadly on the role of social context and environment on cancer-related risk behaviors and interventions to address them. Successful candidates, ideally, would complement the existing expertise and research interests in CCBR. We welcome candidates in the three areas of:  worksite wellness and health and safety; health communications; and organizations and systems related to health.  The faculty members will be expected to develop their own independent research program and to be responsible for the direct supervision of doctoral students and fellows.  There are no internal candidates for this search.

On behalf of the search committee, I am writing to ask for your advice and recommendations regarding individuals who would be competitive candidates for these positions. I would be pleased if you would bring this announcement to the attention of highly qualified candidates, or let me know personally of any promising young scientists you believe would be appropriate for our position.  We are particularly interested in qualified candidates who are women or members of a minority group.

We would be most grateful for any help you can give us in this important enterprise.  For further information, please contact me at vish_viswanath@dfci.harvard.edu, or 617-632-2225.   I hope to hear from you, or I may follow up with you by phone or email. I have attached a copy of the job description for your information.

Thank you in advance for your help, and best wishes!

Sincerely,

K. Viswanath, Ph.D.
