A Texas man allegedly broke into homes of four members of the same sorority and sexually assualted the women. Police are currently on the look-out to arrest this individual who seeks women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. to sexaully assault. All victims are black, female, and are in mid-50s to mid-60s.  According to the original story from CNN, “no names for the suspect have been reported,” however each of the victims were able to describe the suspect as a black male in his late-30s to mid-40s, weighing 275-300 pounds, and between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-9-tall.

According to Corinth Police Capt. Greg Wilkerson, the assaults happened in “residential settings” on October 14 between 9:15 p.m and 4 a.m., 35 miles northwest of Dallas, when victims were alone and where the suspect could try to conceal his identity. Wilkerson released additional information that the Corinth police department is currently processing DNA evidence. Police Capt. added, “authorities do not know how the suspect learned details of the victims, speculating it may have been over the internet, by accessing an old directory or noticing would-be victims with Delta Sigma Theta jewelry, placards or other paraphernalia out in public.”

Cynthia M.A. Butler-McIntyre, Delta Sigma Theta’s president said, “To think that our members are being targeted is disturbing and extremely disheartening. Until the individual responsible for these crimes is brought to justice, we will continue to remain in close communication with one another and law enforcement officials.” In agreement, the Washington based head-quarter’s released a statement urging all members of Delta Sigma Theta to take precaution.

No additional information have yet been released.

Will the Truth Result in Justice Being Served?

Mother Deborah Bradley and Baby Lisa

A mother of a 10-month-old admits to reporters that she had been drinking the night of her child’s disappearance. Deborah Bradley, mother of infant Lisa Irwin, has been on a search to find her daughter. When the story first published, Bradley told Authority of Kansas City, Missouri that her child was last seen at 10:30 p.m. Later, she changes the time to 6:40 p.m., however, she’s unsure as to what exactly happened because she also admits to reporters to “drinking enough to be drunk”.

Investigators have now reviewed surveillance tapes from the day of the child abduction and it shows Bradley buying a box of wine. Bradley expresses her concerns to reporters stating, “The main fear is that if they arrest me, people are going to stop looking, and I’ll never see her again, and I’ll never know what happened.”

People on the Search for Baby Lisa

In regards to Bradley’s concerns, on Monday, a well-known Attorney Joe Tacopina has announced that he was now representing the family. He said, “In my mind, there is no question they had nothing to do with the disappearance of their little girl, I’m optimistic and confident at the end of the day the truth will come out and speculation will be put to rest.”

In addition to Tacopina representing the family, the Missouri National Guard has also joined the search. It has been released that an anonymous person has offered a $100,000 reward for information in the case. As of today, no suspects have been named.

My First Post; About Me!

Welcome to my Blog Site! I’m Mykel Lindsay, 20,  Junior at Bowling Green State University. My expected graduation date is May of 2013. I’m studying to major in Broadcasting Journalism, with a minor in Communications. This school year has been quite a change for me. I attended BGSU on the strength that my family was in close enough distance to return home on the weekends, until recently, my family moved south. Since the move, I have been searching for ways to stay occupied and to get more involved on campus. Recently, I have been accepted as a member of University Activities Organization, known as UAO, one of the most known organizations on-campus created to get students and faculty involved. I am one of the representatives for the Special Events Programming Team. I pride myself greatly for being a member of this great organization. I’m also a member and treasure of the National Association for Black Journalists (NABJ). NABJ is another on-campus organization, also nation-wide, which focuses on Journalists of color and gives them ways to be successful in their careers by providing: scholarship, internship and job opportunities. As of now, I am content with my involvement at BGSU. Furthermore, some of my interests are assisting the less fortunate, talking, shopping, and of course watching a few of my favorite television shows: Criminal Minds, C.S.I, and Law and Order, and because I am interested in “Crime/Investigation,” My future blog topics will be based on such. Enjoy!
