Paid sports media summer internships for female students

We’re accepting applications for our 2019 summer internship/scholarship program.

AWSM is a non-profit organization founded as a support network and advocacy group for women in sports. We work to promote and increase diversity in sports media. One of our hallmark programs is AWSM Scholars, which has placed nearly 200 young women in paid internships since 1990.

This year, we have up to nine internships — all of which are supplemented by $1,000 scholarships — available for female college students who have completed at least one year of school. The paid internships are in four areas: sportswriting, broadcast production, media relations and social media.

Last summer our winners worked at ESPN, USA Today, Sports Illustrated, MLB.com and USA Softball, among other organizations. We’re putting together similarly stellar lineup for 2019.

In addition, winners receive complimentary registration and lodging at our summer convention in Tampa.

The application deadline is Oct. 15. It costs $40 for non-members and it’s free for members. An annual membership is just $25 for students.

Here is a direct link to the application.
