Washington Center Internships

The Washington Center Internship Program (TWC)  in Washington DC, is a non-profit, educational institution, founded in the mid-70’s.  The TWC  Program is designed to help students gain a national, professional internship, develop professional and leadership skills, interact with professionals in government and their field, develop a portfolio, and become engaged citizens.  Often students make connections for career positions or graduate school. BGSU has partnered with the Washington Center Internship Program since the mid-70’s and over 300 students have gained career experience.

Participating students are required to receive a minimum of 1 credit hour from BGSU for the Washington Center experiential learning experience and internship. This requires that a BGSU faculty member in the student’s department assign course credit and a grade.  This is documented on a BGSU form called an “Academic Requirement Agreement”.  TWC provides comprehensive mid-term and final grade evaluations from the TWC Program Manager, the Internship site supervisor, and their course instructor.  The BGSU faculty member assigns a grade or S/U.

Step One:  Please refer students to Sue Young, Assistant Director BGSU Career Center, TWC Campus Liaison, 318 Math/Sciences Building. They call 419-372-2356 for an appointment to go over the application and approval process. Please let me know if I can provide additional information.
