The Cleveland Council on World Affairs offers quality and engaging internship opportunities.
· Interns are provided with a meaningful project and assignments that help to develop their skills and that can be used in a work portfolio or for credit (based upon college/university policy)
· CCWA provides monitoring and supervision as the interns work to achieve their goals.
· Interns have opportunities for involvement in CCWA events such as attend lectures, and programs.
· CCWA provides International Leadership Seminars, where interns will have the opportunity to have a discussion with staff, organizational leaders, or selected members of the Board of Trustees who will share their professional experiences and the wide range of international careers available.
· Interns experience day-to-day operations in a small nonprofit organization with an international focus.
· Interns receive a small stipend

Propel Ohio: Collegiate Leadership Summit

On behalf of Senator Sherrod Brown, it is my great honor to invite Bowling Green State University undergraduate students to apply to participate in Propel Ohio: Collegiate Leadership Summit 2016.

Propel Ohio is a leadership program that promotes civic engagement and inspires undergraduate students to grow into civic leaders in Ohio. Last year, over 250 students and administrators from 60 colleges and universities attended the inaugural Propel Ohio.

Propel Ohio 2016 will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016, at the University of Dayton. It will actively engage college students on issues that affect childhood poverty, including health and hunger, education, and housing security. Senator Brown, guest speakers, and workshop facilitators will discuss how college students can tackle these challenges in their Ohio communities. At the end of the day, there will be a Resource Fair where students will connect with organizations that are addressing childhood poverty all across Ohio.

Each of Ohio’s two-year and four-year public and private colleges and universities is invited to appoint up to three undergraduate students in addition to your selected host committee student. The deadline for students to apply on Senator Brown’s website is Friday, September 16, 2016. Applications will be shared by Senator Brown’s office with each applicant’s school.

BGSU will be hosting a regional Propel Ohio conference in Spring 2017 and all applicants will be invited to be part of the planning process.

Findlay High School Seeking French Teacher Part-time

We just heard that Findlay HS is looking for someone to teach French 1, French 2, and French 3. The position opened up very suddenly. This is a part-time position. Open Instructor Position in English and International Studies

Position Title:

One-year NTTF Instructorship in English and International Studies
Details:

Duties:  Teaching introductory courses in International Studies and in English. Teaching special topics courses at the undergraduate level in English. Teaching graduate courses in English.

 

Salary:  Competitive.

 

Effective Date of Employment:  The starting date of employment is August 10, 2016.

 
Qualifications:
1) PhD in English

2) A minimum of two years’ experience teaching.
3) Experience teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

4) Familiarity with issues relating to the processes and effects of globalization, including effects beyond the English-speaking regions of the world.

5) Expertise in one or more fields of literary studies.

6) A record of scholarly publication desirable but not required.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT & PUBLIC POLICY INTERNSHIPS

Bowling Green City Councilman Daniel Gordon is offering internships in applied public policy work for summer and fall 2016. Core responsibilities include researching new innovations in public policy being tested in cities across the nation, and evaluating those ideas for possible implementation in Bowling Green.

 

Positions include:

– Social Policy Research Aide

– Economic Policy Research Aide

– Environmental Policy Research Aide

– Transportation Policy Research Aide

– Constituent Outreach Liaison

 

These internships are especially relevant for students who are 1) studying political science; law; women’s, gender, and sexuality studies; environmental studies; economics; sociology; and public administration; and 2) looking for applied work experience in public policy, local government, and/or community organizing. Interns may also receive course credit if applicable and approved by their advisor(s).

 

Applications will be accepted until May 15th, 2016 for summer positions and until September 1st, 2016 for fall positions.

Part-time International Studies Teaching Positions

 

The International Studies Program at Bowling Green State University seeks applicants for possible part-time teaching positions in introductory International Studies courses for Academic Year 2015-16.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 1) M.A. degree in international studies or cognate field; 2) evidence of successful teaching in international studies or cognate field at the collegiate level is preferred.

Submit application materials to: Beatrice Guenther, Director, International Studies Program, Shatzel Hall 131, Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH 43403. Complete application file should include: 1) letter of application; 2) full curriculum vita; 3) two current original letters of reference; 4) official transcripts indicating highest degree.

At this event you will have the chance to network with representatives from government agencies. These speakers will provide tips and advice for how to apply for jobs within the federal government. Represented agencies include: FBI, U.S. State Department, Social Security Administration, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, National Park System and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

The representatives will provide tips for navigating USAjobs.gov, the application process, security clearance concerns and more.

After the panel portion, there will be round tables set up so you can network with these professionals.

The BGSU Career Center is hosting a trip to Columbus, Ohio for students to meet with BGSU alumni working in government and employer partners in the Columbus area. Learn about hiring practices, companies and organizations in the Columbus area, and internship and job opportunities. This networking event/career mixer is open to undergraduate and graduate students.  Transportation and lunch will be provided. Preregistration is required. We will leave BGSU on March 19th at 8:00am and return back to campus by 6:00pm.
