OhioLINK Releases 2007 Annual Snapshot Report

Published by parmer under Libraries and Information

The Ohio Board of Regents just announced the release of OhioLINK’s 2007 Snapshot annual report in a press release to Ohio media. The release follows below and will be archived online soon at http://regents.ohio.gov/news/index.php.

The new Snapshot is a departure from previous versions as it focuses more on how OhioLINK delivers cost-effective, increased access to information resources, supports quality teaching and learning and enables world-class research, and less on the volume of information we provide. A PDF copy of the 2007 Snapshot is available at http://www.ohiolink.edu/about/publications.html.

2010 Census at Risk

Published by parmer under Census Data

The 2010 Census is at serious risk of massive cost increases and delays caused by problems with a contract to develop handheld computers that the Census Bureau plans to use to collect data.

Because of the problems, costs for the decennial census could increase by between $600 million to $2 billion, according to testimony given by the Government Accountability Office Wednesday at a hearing of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The increase would be on top of the $11.8 billion the bureau estimates the census will

cost.
