A Profile of the Working Poor, 2000 was released by the Department of Labor in March, 2002. This report presents a demographic profile of the 6.4 million people who spent at least 27 months in the labor force (working or looking for work) but whose incomes fell below the official poverty level.
A Profile of the Working Poor, 2003
In 2003, 35.9 million people, 12.5 percent of the population,lived at or below the official poverty threshold – 1.3 million more than in 2002, as released in March 2005.
