Winter Solstice

In the northern hemisphere, the winter solstice occurs this year on December 22.  This is the “shortest” or darkest day of the year, as it  has the fewest daylight hours. The solstice also marks the beginning of winter. As winter cold settles in, the days begin to lengthen and we can look forward to the longest day, the summer solstice.
