Celebrate Summer!

Summer starts with the summer solstice–the longest day of the year. June 21st is the first day of summer this year. Celebrate the long daylight hours with children’s books from the CRC. We have books that feature the season and special summer pastimes.

Father’s Day

Father’s Day will be celebrated on Sunday, June 19th this year. Sonora Smart Dodd started Father’s Day celebrations in Spokane, Washington, in 1909. It took until 1972 to have Father’s Day signed into U.S. law.

Flag Day

We celebrate Flag Day on June 14, the date that the Stars and Stripes was chosen as our flag. The first observance was in 1877, which was the 100th anniversary of the adoption. YA Reads: Latino People and Cultures

Celebrate Latino people and cultures in the CRC this month! Our YA display features  a variety of writers from Isabel Allende to Julia Alvarez and Gary Soto.  Come in and find a new favorite.
