Here are the factors for determining your final grade for Interactive Communication Technologies (please see course information for approximate percentages, etc.):
- Grades on Midterm Exam as well as previous assignments, etc.
- Attendance, participation, classroom activities, lesson retention, attentiveness, and development and growth displayed over the course of the semester.
- Homework assignments and blogs posts
- Your personal.bgsu.edu site
- This will be the final determining factor for your grade for this course, please read carefully.
- All sites must be uploaded by the end of our scheduled final exam session, 1:15-3:15 pm on Monday, May 4th, 2009.
- You are not required to attend class during finals week, but you may attend if you need more time to finish up. (While I will be present, you may not rely on me to help you during the session. Please consider this time as a final exam time. Socializing and talking during this time must be kept to a minimum.)
- Last day for assisted work on the sites is Friday, May 1st, 2009. I must leave directly after class on Friday, if you need additional help, e-mail me.
- The sites will be graded as viewable by way of Safari. Make sure everything is uploaded and working. DO NOT wait until the last minute.
- If your is not at http://personal.bgsu.edu/~[username], reply to this post with the proper url.
Minimum requirements for your personal.bgsu.edu site.
Unless you have made previous arrangements with me otherwise, all requirements must be met. If you have a question, ask before finals week.
- Welcome/home page (basic index.html page) from which all other pages are accessible.
- Contact page including your bgsu e-mail address formatted as a “mailto:” link. See here for more details.
- Links page including (at least) a link to your BGSU blog and to the BGSU homepage. See here for more details.
- Resume page.
- About Me page.
- Writing sample.
Additional pages such as video pages, portfolios, photos, etc. will also be considered in your final grade for the site.
Please make sure all links are “live,” an overall design “aesthetic” is present, and that your site is “finished.” Clean up all “dead” links.
If you have begun working on an additional site, please let me know and I will also factor this work into your final grade.

As I mentioned during the past few classes, we will be making adjustments to the assignments and the schedule so that you (the students) can get the most out of the course.
Here is the tentative schedule for the rest of the semester:
- April 6, 8, & 10 – Work on personal.bgsu.edu sites
- April 13 – Present sites for class critique
- April 15 – Propose project for the rest of the course
- If you would like to continue working on your personal.bgsu.edu site, you must tell what specifically you intend to work on for the rest of the semester. If you intend to work on a new site or a different project, you must propose the project. The proposals will likely be made via e-mails.
- April 15 – May 1 – Work on projects
- May 4 – 1:15-3:15pm – Final exam
- During the final exam period, you will be required to present your project to the class. The presentation will be informal, but it must be professional. You just need to go over the work you’ve done, show the class how the site works, and what, if anything, you would like to continue to work on in the future.
Any questions? Please e-mail me: colinh@bgsu.edu
I have set up two sample pages to help you with your “Links” page and your “Contact” page. They are located at:
Each page also contains detailed notes in red at the bottom of the page. Please let me know if these are unclear.
Also, please remember to continue blogging at your blogs.bgsu.edu sites. Please do (at least) one blog entry per week.

Hello and welcome back to the TCOM 264 Blog.
Today we will be working on our online resumes.
Please visit http://drop.io/3btnpj8 and download the index.html file to your desktop.
This file will replace the index.html file within the “resume” folder of you personal.bgsu.edu site.
Once you have downloaded it, please wait for further instructions since I am not sure how much information about your individual site will be stored within the Dreamweaver application of your individual computers.
If you would like, you may open your site (from where ever you have “locally” stored it — not the online version) and prepare to replace the old index.html file within the resume folder with the new one.
If you do not like the format I have provided you or you would like to explore other formats, I recommend visiting the writing center, attending a resume workshop on campus, or you may visit this site for other ideas.

I am very sorry for the last minute nature of this e-mail, but I will have to cancel class for today.
We will be going over material for the midterm on Monday and the midterm will be during class on Wednesday.
If you would like to work on your personal.bgsu.edu site, I recommend that you work on your header image (located in the “images” folder of your site) or your resume.
I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. See you on Monday.
May sure you do your weekly blog post for this week.
