Reader Response 9/18

I chose the second prompt. I am going to argue the side of the teens whose parents have no trust in them and want to gain access into their teens personal pages and passwords. I chose the second prompt because I can relate to the topic. It will be easier for me to write the essay because I have personal examples I can use to explain my reasoning. I am going to argue that teens should not have to give their parents their passwords. As long as teens use their common sense they should have no reason not to be trusted. As I prewrite I will use examples of real life experiences I have went through in my life. I can talk about how my mother was very paranoid about my internetuse. She put the family computer in the living room where everyone could see what was on the screen. Many teens have to deal with what I had to go through so my audience will be able to relate to my examples. Teens may feel they are being watched over like a hawk and that their parents are overbearing and controlling. I will argue the teens side of the topic but also look at both sides of the prompt. Parents need to realize their children have common sense and they should be able to be trusted. I will look back at the video also for examples to use in my essay. I believe that the teens should be trusted more with internet use.

Revision Strategies

I am going to apply the revision strategy of reading my draft out loud. Even if no one is in the room I believe reading aloud is a helpful tool used by authors. By reading aloud, I will be able to catch any mistakes I have made that I might not of caught while reading silently.  I will use this strategy before Fridays class on my draft.

After reading the selected essays fromthe book, This I Believe, I became aware of the comonality between the essays. Most of the essays had to do with the interaction of people. Whether it was how to be a good neighbor or not discouraging a child about math and science. The essays also had a positive outlook on the human race. Each of the essays had a moral that I feel the human race should follow by. My favorite line out of all of the essays was said by Isabel Allende. She stated “You only have what you give. It’s by spending yourself that you become rich”. I believe that it is essential to have a central moral or theme when writing a this I believe essay.

I believe writing is important because it is a key form of communication. Writing is needed to help people communicate non verbally.

Writing is important because it helps us develop as we get older. The older and more mature we become the better and easier it is for us to write essays and papers. I believe that writing takes practice.

It is important to write because when you are older you will need to use it all the time in the real world. At school, at work, and even if your free time you will be writing. It is important to practice writing so you become a great writer.
