The first summer session has flown by; there are less than 2 weeks left. I have been pretty busy with everything, including my summer internship and my GA. Things have been pretty exciting and somewhat stressful. Overall, after having done a service-learning project last semester and currently working at a nursing home, I am now more interested in going to work in the non-profit sector at some point in my career. In the meantime, my schedule is about to change, so I will have to readjust quickly. And, there is always the challenging task of finding a full-time job for after graduation…

Summer session 1
Strasbourg
Each year, we send a group of our students on a study abroad trip to Strasbourg, France where they can learn more about business and culture in another country. I asked this year’s group if they could write a quick note about their experiences so far. Enjoy.
Strasbourg, France is historically rich with museums, cathedrals and various scenic outdoor market places. A diplomatic city at its core, Strasbourg is home to The Council of Europe and the European Parliament-the only directly elected body in the European Union. We had the pleasure of visiting both while attending the university.
The French culture is profoundly tied to the French Language. The artful use of the language is evident while visiting the city. A small effort to understand their culture and use their language is seen with kindness and generosity.
The food is good which included escargot (snail), a must try in France and don’t forget the crème brulee! The coke is served in a glass bottle and a glass of wine is just as expensive as a bottle of water. It seems every restaurant/bar has an outdoor patio and you have to ask for the bill as meals are truly savored and leisurely paced.
The city center is near the university and travel is easy whether by foot, tram or rental bike. If walking, be aware of the bike paths and be accustomed to hearing the ring of a bell as bikers signal there approach and whizz by.
Au revoir!
