Huron, Ohio – Bowling Green State University Firelands College recently hired Leo Mallias to fill the vacant position of library director.

In his capacity at BGSU Firelands, Mallias will be responsible for providing leadership in the areas of strategic planning, setting the vision and mission for the Library, evaluating collections and services, utilizing resources efficiently, and creating relevant and innovative services and programs for students and patrons.

Mallias has nearly 10 years of experience working in libraries and was most recently employed as the medical librarian at Kent State Universtiy College of Podiatric Medicine, Independence, Ohio.  He brings to BGSU Firelands a broad-based spectrum of knowledge which includes work experience in the areas of administration, human resources, and marketing.

Mallias earned a master’s degree in library and information science from Kent State University, Ohio; a master’s degree in business administration from Baldwin Wallace University, Berea, Ohio; and a master’s degree of arts and sociology and a bachelor’s of art in anthropology and linguistics from Clevealnd State Universtiy, Ohio.

Mallias lives in Cleveland with his wife and children.  He enjoys the outdoors, reading, astronomy, and spending time with his family.
