Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Hannah M. Jesberger of Sandusky has received the BGSU Firelands Community Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Jesberger will receive $1,429 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This scholarship is available to entering freshman and continuing students who are attending on either a full- or part-time basis. Funds for this scholarship are given by people in the BGSU Firelands community through solicitations by the BGSU Foundation Board.

Jesberger is a 2013 graduate of Perkins High School where she was on the honor roll and earned several awards and honors including being named a scholar athlete, receiving the Appropriate Behavior Correctly Demonstrated Award, the Captains Award for Soccer, the Outstanding Senior Foreign Language Award, and academic and varsity letters. While in high school she was active in soccer and softball, tutored Spanish, and was a flag placer for the Ohio Veterans Home.

She is a freshman majoring in education at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Philip and Lori Jesberger.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Brooke Elizabeth Stieber of Norwalk has received the BGSU Firelands Community Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Stieber will receive $1,429 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This scholarship is available to entering freshman and continuing students who are attending on either a full-time or part-time basis. Funds for this scholarship are given by people in the BGSU Firelands community through solicitations by the BGSU Foundation Board.

Stieber is a 2013 graduate of Monroeville High School where she graduated with high honors, earned several awards including the Distinguished Scholar Award, an Award of Merit, and the Presidential Award of Educational Excellence, was named Student of the Quarter/Nine Weeks in teacher academy, early childhood education, and agriculture education, and she earned varsity letters in academics, cross country, and track. While in high school she was active in National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, academic challenge, Future Farmers of America, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Renaissance Club, yearbook, and Student Council. Outside of school she was active in 4-H where she held several elected positions and served as a camp counselor, she particiapated in Jr. Fair Board, and is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She is a freshman majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Kevin and Elaine Stieber of Norwalk.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Talon Edward Smith of Huron has received the BGSU Firelands Faculty and Staff Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Smith will receive $1,900 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This award is available to any full- or part-time student with demonstrated financial need.

Smith is a 1996 graduate of Sandusky High School.

He is a senior majoring in criminal justice at BGSU Firelands where he previously earned an associate of applied science in criminal justice with highest distinction. He has been on the Dean’s List, was inducted into the Society of the Flame, and has been active in the Humanity Organized for Peace through Education Club and the Criminal Justice Club.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Christina M. Davis of Norwalk has received the Edward and Donna (Bender) Hamer Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Davis will receive $935 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This endowed scholarship was established in 2002 by Mrs. Donna Hamer and is available to a full-time student at BGSU Firelands. Any student from the Firelands area is eligible and financial need is a consideration for the award.

Davis is a 1991 graduate of St. Paul High School.

She is a junior at BGSU Firelands working towards a bachelor of liberal studies with a focus in human services.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Donna Rae Kuhlman of Norwalk has received the James E. Cole Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Kuhlman will receive $1,360 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This scholarship is available to seniors from Norwalk or St. Paul high schools. High school academic achievement plus potential for scholarly success in college are primary considerations for this scholarship.

Kuhlman is a 2013 graduate of St. Paul High School where she earned an academic letter all four years and was active in National Honor Society, Key Club, and Prom Committee. Her community service efforts included Make a Difference Day, Asthma Walk, Heart Walk, Gingerfest, Reach Our Youth, and a Red Cross blood drive.

She is a freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Donald and Suzanne Kuhlman of Norwalk.

Berlin Heights resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Connor Nicholas Simon of Berlin Heights has received the Mary L. Fenker Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Simon will receive $706 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This scholarship, given by a generous donation from Mary L. Fenker of Sandusky, is available to full- and part-time students from Erie County. Recipients must major in nursing or early childhood education, maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate financial need. Community and school involvement is also considered.

Simon is a 2013 graduate of Edison High School where he was on the honor roll and involved in National Technical Honor Society, the 95% Club, Spanish Club, Varsity E Club, football and track. While in high school he earned a varsity letter and became a State Tested Nurses Aid.

He is a freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.

He is the son of Bob and Michelle Simon.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Kimberly Ann Schloesser of Norwalk has received the Sandusky Elks Book Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Schloesser will receive $500 towards books and course materials for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This award is available to students living in Erie County.

Schloesser is a 2011 graduate of Edison High School where she earned the Jim Ground Most Dedicated Award for cross country, the Most Improved for cross country, an Award of Merit, and an academic letter. While in high school she was active in Key Club, Solo and Ensemble, Spanish Club, choir, and cross country.

She is a sophomore majoring in visual communication technology at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Roger and Anna Schloesser of Norwalk.
