TK Model Sheet

October 2 (just for you Sarit)

In a dark room, a message lights up a figure sleeping on his bed. The message reads, “TK, room 316 has a problem with the lights. Fix it”. TK sleepily rolls over, turning his back to the message. The message flashes new, bright words in bold, “NOW”. TK sighs and heads to the room.

The room is dark as the opening door sheds light in some of the areas. TK floats in on a personal saucer platform hovering above the ground. TK is slumping in lethargy. He uses his mind to hit the light switch by the door, but only sparks emit from the dome in the center of the room on the floor. TK hovers over to the dome and steps off the saucer. He opens a box on the side of the dome. As his eyes glow a little, the box sparks and spurts. The light inside turns from red to green. TK shuffles over to a large button on the front of the machine and hits it. The dome snaps open quickly. TK stretches his neck and inspects the insides of the dome.

Light bursts forth into the air, blinding TK temporarily and light the room. The seven photons fade into a pleasant amount of light. As TK adjusts his eyes, one photon shoots forwards hitting TK in the head staggering him backward. TK quickly turns and summons his saucer beneath him. As TK tries to make his escape, the photons, as a group, push up from beneath his saucer and run his head into the doorframe. TK blacks out briefly, looking at his saucer on the ground, wondering where the photons are. The photons flare up again and fly out from behind the saucer towards TK. He rolls towards the wall as the photons fly past. Summoning his saucer again, he flies through the crowd of photons, covered in a force field to protect him from the photons’ attack.

Inside the room, TK whistles at the photons, taunting them. His devious smile hints at a plan. The photons glow red in anger and charge TK. (In slow motion) the photons enter the room with attack speed while TK flings his saucer at the photons. The photons dodge and tighten their formation. TK drops to the floor in front of the dome and catches the photons above him in another force field. The photons attack the force field angrily while TK forces them back into the dome, hitting the switch and trapping them. He mentally hits the switch and the photons are electrocuted with the fixed box on the side of the dome. The photons calm down and glow nicely inside the dome. TK hovers out of the room on his saucer, sitting sleepily. TK’s dull face sparks into a smile as he leaves the room; once out of the room, the lights in the halllway go out. TK hangs his head in disapointment, but not suprised. He jumps up on his saucer and glides around the corner to fix the problem, yet again.

I added a toolbelt/pouch. I thought this looked more “Mr. Fix-it” than just tools on a belt. At the very least, people will be able to relate with the familiar item.

Character Render Revised

My revised, more lethargic (hopefully) character. I am still not sure about the belt. As I was shading the bottom of his face, I noticed it looked sort of grungy… perhaps that pushes the mechanic look more than a belt?

Whole She’bang

Revised Concept: Work sucks, but someone has to do the job.

Premise: A message is sent to an alien about lights not working in a lab. The alien inspects the light source to the room. When he opens the dome containing the “lights”, he is attacked by small photon-like beings. The small photons assault the alien, but the alien defends himself. He finally finds a way to trick the photons back into the containment dome. The alien succeeds in tricking the photons, and exits thinking, “Work sucks, but someone has to do it.”

This is the character concept page. The alien’s head is much rounder in this one than in the more recent drawings. The more circular, the more it seems child-like. That is what I wanted originally, but I think making it a little less child-like would be better for the role and character.

This is the emotion page. I was practicing drawing facial emotions for the character. I will practice more to really get the emotion across.

These are the concepts for the door and dome. The door is circular and off the floor implying that alternatives to entering the room are necessary for the race of short aliens. The dome shows the concept of the dome in the center of the room that is going to hold the photons.

This is the concept drawing for my room. It needs a lot of work. I plan on making a very basic, polygonal model of the room to sketch it out better. I know its suppose to work the other way around but I know what I want and need reference to draw it.

Two six-sentence story ideas

A greedy alien pirate is traveling space for arcane booty… treasure that is.  Upon inspecting a precious space stone, a massive black hole comes gliding through space and threatens the pirate and his booty. The struggle between greed and self-preservation begins. The alien attempts to retrieve the stone. When he realizes the stone is not worth it, he escapes the black hole just in time and continues his journey through the void.

This image is simply titled Iceby Russian artist Andey Svorodin. I think the image is rendered excellently. I have always liked the duality of mystical creature and elemental forces.

This bizarre image is called a thing outer space…by taysonus son. This unique image is appealing to me on several levels. I think the character/being is hauntingly attractive. The eyes, the “hair”, the hand delicately holding the earth. The scale of the being is also very cool. It is a good way of illustrating how monumentally small our scale of living is compared to cosmic scales.

This is quite a disturbing character, but I like it. It is named Puppet of Phantomsby Xueguo Xang. The twisted anatomy of the figure provides the same sort of interest as someone with a gory wound from an accident or fight. Ever notice how people always want to see someone’s stitches or a large gaping wound? That is essentially how this image makes me feel; I want to look away, but I’m not going to.

This fantastic little picture is called Baby Chamaeleo calyptratus by Gregor Smukovic. I love the expression on the chameleon’s face as he plans his attack. The picture’s cartoon like feel accents the playfulness edging at the chameleon’s face.

This spectacular character is called Lord of Darkby Guang Yang. I absolutely love the detail in the armor and shape. The background and spikey nature of the armor couple for a great mechanical/inferno theme.

This picture is called Alienkillerby an artist called YangGuang. These three “Alienkillers” are very creative. The weapons and facial features are the prime representations or depictions of the feeling of animosity they radiate.

This image depicts multiple characters. The two main characters of the image are obviously the two soldiers (Roman-esque and other). The focus is mentioned in the title (Axe of Bronze by Michal Ivan), but the two main characters are still very appealing. The hero in gold radiates light while the demon like soldier is dark and grotesque, both representing their respective sides. The demon soldier is very creative in its rendering (along with the horde behind it).

This fantastic character is called the Mermaid Queenby Mark Molnar. The wonferful design of the Queen’s head and tail is very coral-esque, completeing the underwater royalty feel.

This hysterical character is known as the Underwear Stealer by Aldo Tan. The cow is absolutely zany and the face shows it more than anything (besides the underwear).

This free, mystical being is called the Dragon King by an artist named Ao-Kuang. The dragon has a wonderful sense of freedom. It even has a smile playing at its mouth and if I were soaring through the skies in such a way, I would have to feel the same.
