Major Accomplishments for the Past Week:
- Started classes: Introduction to Technical Writing; Canadian Fiction; Intro to Theater and Film; and Medical Ethics (all online courses)
- Purchased a Kindle Fire for the purpose of cheaper textbook downloads
- Began reading all textbooks for all classes
- Set up a blog site for Technical Writing class
Plans for Next Week:
- Start assignments for classes
- Download movies onto Kindle for Theater and Film class
- Get a head start on other courses
Issues and Concerns:
- Technical Writing course seems overwhelming but I hope to take it all in little by little and see where I get. I may just be trying to process too much information at once!
- Theater and Film course seems like we will be watching a lot of boring movies but maybe it might open my eyes to some new types of things.
- Canadian Fiction course will be very laid back in approach but requires the reading of 7 or more novels. This could be a problem if I do not pace myself well.
- Medical Ethics seems like an interesting class but really isn’t geared towards my major. I will have to do my best with the course and see where it gets me.

Welcome to my introduction! I am anxious to get to know everyone else as well as “tell my story” so here it goes!
I am 33 years young and mother to two beautiful kids: Alchemy (girl, 2 1/2 years) and Dorian (boy, 4 months). I was actually in the hospital giving birth to my son the first week of last semester! I had waited so long to have kids, get married and go back to school that all three seemed to collide at the same time! I am now entering my senior year at BGSU after a long time off (last classes before 2008 were in 1996!). I look forward to finally graduating and moving out of Ohio where I can successfully enter the job market!
I took this course in hopes that it would benefit my career aspects in the sense that I would better be able to write and express myself in a more professional manner. When I graduate, I hope to have a degree in English with a minor in Biology. I would like to get into the Conservation Biology profession but had to change course when I just couldn’t grasp the math requirements for the degree. So that said, I will be looking at a Bachelors in English.
Technical writing, to me, means writing for the “technical” crowd. This would be anything from business people, scientists, politicians, or anyone of “higher” caliber. This also means writing more “distinguished” writing; not using internet slang or terms.
Finally, I guess the coolest thing I have ever seen would have to be the birth of my children. I have had c-sections for both of them and didn’t see everything (thankfully) but seeing them enter the world is just an experience/sight that is beyond describable. If you do not have children, you will not understand but there is no better sight/feeling than this.
Thank you for taking the time to read this introduction. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I am an open book and do not mind answering anything thrown my way.
