Week 13 Update

The site is pretty much done and ready for launch. I’m still working out some minor bugs within the site, but it still looks like everything will be ready for the launch at the end of the semester. Hopefully, I can launch on time.

Week 12 Update

Now that all of the pages are completed, I’m going back through them and fixing some minor bugs. After completing Module 5, I realized that I needed to add the phone number to each page. This will make it easier for the audience to order food from the carry out. I’m almost done with the site! It feels really good to know that the project is almost completed!

Week 11 Update

The interior pages are getting close to being finished. I just have a few minor adjustments that need to be made. Everything is still running very smooth. Hopefully it remains that way.

Week 10 Update

The home page is completely finished, finally! Now that it is done, I have started on the interior pages. Interior pages are generally less of a hassel, because the header and footer of the site usually remains the same. I will just change the middle content on the interior pages. I found a really cool script for the menu page, and I was able to manipulate it so that it works for my site. I’m glad that everything is going good now.

Week 9 Update

Currently, I’m still working on the home page. I’m almost finished putting the final touches on the CSS. Right now I’m also looking for some free scripts to make some of the interactive elements of the site, like a slider. I found a cool script for the menu page that I’m going to use. It is kind of like a flip book to make the recipes look like they are on an actual recipe book. Once I finally put the finishing touches on the home page, I will be able to easily create the other pages. I already started coming up with ideas and strategies for the interior pages.

Week 7 Update

Now that all of the mock-ups have been completed, I have reached my least favorite section of web projects, coding. Its not that I don’t like coding, rather I’m not experienced enough in coding. If I were to really study coding, I feel that I would enjoy it. I look at it like putting a puzzle together, using CSS as the pieces. This week I started putting together the home page. It has been a process of trial and error in order to get the page together. I feel like I’m constantly tweaking the CSS margins and paddings, 5 pixels at a time. Thankfully, once I get the home page coded, the rest of the pages will come together quite nicely.

Week 6 Update

My client and I have come to an agreement on a mock up, and I am now in the process of finalizing the design. We held a meeting on Monday and he pointed out some of the areas in the design that he didn’t agree with. He also decided to add a section in the site for customer feedback. I’m really surprised that I didn’t think of that, because after going through my research, I found that some of the sites have feedback sections. The rest of the week I’m going to refine my mock ups and submit the final to him. Hopefully he doesn’t want to make any other changes.

Week 5 Update

I have completed a logo for the client. It took a little bit of debate in order to agree on a logo design. I also started working on the thumbnails for the website. I want to have at least 12 concepts to present to my client. Fortunately, I already have some good thumbnails from previous projects that were unused. To me, it makes sense to “recycle” quality unused work. Hopefully my client and I will come to agreement on a design concept without much debate. After we come to an agreement, I will then begin to design a couple of mockups.

Week 4 Update

This week I met with my client. We finally came to an agreement on a color scheme, after some disagreement. My client wanted the same colors as the school, but I convinced him that it is important to separate themselves from the school. We discussed the content of the website. I worked a little bit on the logo, creating two prototypes. When I present the logos to my client, I would like to have at least 4 prototypes. I began working on the site map. The rest of the week I plan on finishing the site map and working on some site layouts.

Client Search Update

I was able to land the carry-out in my home town as a client. I will be creating a website for them. The client and I will have to discuss the many different elements of the site, including the color scheme, the possibility of a new logo, pages, content, etc. If I finish the website before the end of the semester, I will do promotional materials for the carry-out. Also, there is an opportunity for me to redo the menus. If I get time to, I would like to use custom photography of their food in the website and menu.

Client Search

For this class, I’m going to design and develop a website for a client. Depending on the clients current situation, I may have to come up with a color scheme and/or logo. Initially, my idea was to develop a website for my Dad’s friend’s company, but he already has somebody working on a new one. So, I’m going to use my backup plan. I’m going to be creating a site for my cousin’s carry-out in my hometown.
