Final Project :: Concept Idea

For my final project I would like to do a body study. I want to illustrate parts of the body using other objects, and how that relationship will convey a message about that part of the body.

i can imagine taking this idea and expanding it to other parts of the body. What object can i use to best represent the brain? what could i use to replace the heart?

And then, depending on what i choose, it could have a different effect about how you view that part of the body entirely. (example: what if i use a hand grenade to represent the heart? what kind of message does that convey about the heart?)

i want the overall piece to be very simple and “minimalistic” like, i feel, personally, that that is the most engaging kind of image, something that is just in your face – just look at it. solid background with the image right in the middle.

PERSONAL ART :: artist statement

throughout my artistic process i am not just confined to just drawing, or painting, or sculpting, i still utilize all facets of the artistic process i feel will convey the work i am trying to produce. most of my art expression is through drawing, or sketching. i feel i have more literal control over my piece, having the ability to change anything on the spot. my main focus through my art is “other worldly”, “fantasy”, or “surreal”. i tend to make my art with the thought of my ideas have a weight, reason, a history, as if this is how things are suppose to be, my ideas live in the actual place. my subject matter within most my art has to do with power, be trapped or restricted, love, brokenness, though my ideas are not limited to them.
my pieces also have a narrative to them, as if there is some story i want the viewer to make up for themselves or see clearly, i dont like the idea of having a set explanation in front of your face, discovering and wondering what the subject and narrative is what i think makes looking at art so fun.

i approach each piece with an open mind, willing to go anywhere my mind wants it to go. i usually dont have a set plan or goal im trying to accomplish, which may be a downfall to the way i work, but i find it engaging and fun to discover what each piece has in store for myself and others.

most of my recent stuff has to do with character development and design, exploring what it takes to create a new character and the personality of that character.
